Wow. This is HUGE news. Only Giuliani and Pataki have the ability to knock off Kirsten Gillibrand. I know folks around here have had their hangups with Rudy in the past, but I will whole-heartedly support him in a run for the senate in NY.

Terrific....
I really think Lazio has a shot at Governor at this point.

Good for Rudi! I wish him well. He’ll probably vote only a little better than Arlen Specter in his pre-turncoat days, but he’s about the best they can expect to come out of a statewide election in New York.

He should have done this in the last go-round with Hillary.
As it is, I wouldn't vote for Rudy. Just another undependable RINO who will bolt the second we need him most.

I agree now that PIAPS is gone there can be sanity brought back to the Senate in 2010.

I agree that Guiliani would be a reasonably good choice for the Senate. I’d be a little concerned that he might return to his gun-grabbing ways, but he would probably be around 60% to 80% good in the senate — a heckuva lot better than anything we’ve had out of New York in a long time.

If Paterson somehow survives, Lazio will be a shoe-in. If it’s Cuomo, then Lazio better hope for an extraordinarily bruising primary and a Republican wave in 2010. Cuomo will be tough to beat.

Great, we can have another Rudyite purge... that was fun < /s>

Not sure about that one. However, Nassau county and Westchester county went Republican would help Giuliani’s
chances.

Good luck to him...Lots of people on this FR don't like him...But at least he doesn't hate his country and he wont sell his country to any foreigners... He would have done better than stuttering porky pig mcain
To: Antoninus
That’s retarded.
Support a conservative in the primary if you want, but if the choice is Giuliani or Gillibrand, every conservative should support Giuliani.
To: Sacajaweau
Guiliani’s coattails will swing the NYC suburbs to Lazio.
Consider that Westchester just voted in Republicans to reverse a decade long trend toward the left, and were seeing an interesting problem for Democrats in NY State.
To: St. Louis Conservative
he’d be one more vote to filibuster Obamaism, so I’m all for it

Considering this is NY it is a good choice. He will have my support. We have the same problems here in California.

No more RINOs.

Why is Schumer so safe in New York? I am mystified why the worst Senator is not vulnerable.

"Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani has decided not to run for governor next year - but will run for U.S. Senate instead, sources told the Daily News." I think Rudy's a good fit as a senator, and New Yorkers will have a proven New Yorker they can vote for.
