Thanks! Here's another, although not about Louis.

My same cousins were close friends with an AA pilot who lived down the road in our town. He was an Army Air Force pilot in WWII, and his navigator was Gordon MacRae. Gordon was appearing at the Lake Geneva Playboy Club (I was now a young adult) and the mutual friend arranged for him to visit my cousins for dinner that Friday evening.

I was going to see his show that evening along with a date, and was also invited to drop my my cousin's house first for cocktails. My date and I spent an enjoyable time, getting to meet Gordon, then left for the show (which included dinner) while they sat down for their own dinner.

After our meal at the club, Gordon came on stage and did his performance. Toward the end, he came down into the audience, over to our table, and sang to my date and I.

As far as I'm concerned, he also was a very nice guy, and a real gentleman. He also, IMHO, had the finest baritone voice of all the popular singers of the time.

Now, for the rest of the story. That same friend and AA pilot was the pilot of AA 191 that crashed in Chicago in May, 1979. I'll never forget leaving work from home (in Sycamore, IL at the time) and hearing on the car radio about the crash. For some reason I was overcome with a dreadful feeling about it. Once home, and having the TV on, that fear was confirmed when I learned that Walt Lux was indeed the pilot.
