Too bad there's no Buddy Bolden. I'd give a lot to hear what he actually sounded like.

That’s great stuff. Coming from the Chicago ‘burbs, I’m also interested in the stuff that Bud Freeman did with the ‘Austin High Gang’ (which included Jimmy McPartland and Frank Teschemacher). The Austin neighborhood was adjacent to where I grew up so it’s especially interesting to me. Naturally, Louis and many others became well known through Chicago jazz. Benny Goodman, anyone? Heck, Glenn Miller, and the Dorseys played for Benny in the early years.
