I'm glad that Barone pointed out Middlesex County, NJ. As he correctly pointed out, said county has shifted over the past 30 years from lunchbucket Democrat (which it still is in places like Woodbridge, Milltown, and South Amboy) to upwardly mobile south and east Asian immigrant.

The key to Christie's victory in Middlesex can be seen in the precincts in Edison and the Iselin CDP in Woodbridge. These towns have the highest % of Indian Americans in the United States, and voted for Christie (white working class Woodbridge proper went for Corzine). South Brunswick, which has been a center of migration for more affluent East Indians (and, to a lesser extent, Chinese) also went for Christie.

Barone says, “Nationally, Asian voters went 62%-35% for Barack Obama...” I’m surprised. I thought they had better sense.

I wonder if New Jersey’s Indian population is large enough to throw the state is somebody like Jhindal found his way onto the ticket?
