Matthew Alexander published his book last year entitled How to Break a Terrorist: The U.S. Interrogators Who Used Brains, Not Brutality, to Take Down the Deadliest Man in Iraq. The book has its roots in a Mark Bowden article in the Atlantic. Alexander parlayed the Atlantic article into a book deal. After he wrote it, with some help from a renowned co-author, he went on a book tour making the rounds of all of the farthest Left news programs that would have him. Alexander didnt use his real name to author the book or do his book tour. According to Alexander, his name was sealed in a court order for his protection. Of course, a puny DC District court order doesnt affect the crack research staff of This Aint Hell. Heres his DD214;

The whole story sounds strange. He was an interrogator and a pilot? Hmm. The so called DD214 shows him separated from the service but he’s on the LTC list? Mayhaps he’s in the reserves?
If an officer is on the list, before he goes on IRR, prior to separation, don't they still appear on the list. I had a friend that actually got promoted while on IRR; imagine his surprise when he fully separated a full pay grade above where he thought he was.
Don’t know. I was a lower enlisted dog. We had to earn our stripes while active duty, reserve or NG. There was no getting rank after going into IRR.
