A first-term congressman drew a salary from his campaign for office last fall, his office said.

Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) pocketed about $15,000 in campaign funds, the Buffalo News reported Sunday, while his wife was paid $18,000 for her work as campaign treasurer.

"Eric did draw a meager salary at the end of the 2008 campaign to cover expenses after campaigning full-time for four years," Massa's spokesman told the News. "There aren't many people who have spent more time or effort working for the privilege of serving the families of their congressional district's than Rep. Massa."

And so the revenge begins against those Rats who voted against Pelosi’s health destruction bill. Federal election laws permit drawing a salary from the campaign equal to the salary of the federal office they are seeking, a salary the person is able to draw for each year they actively seek that office, and may be drawn after the fact so long as it doesn't exceed contributions retained from the period of seeking office.

Hence why we've always got the same faces running in the early primaries each presidential election, so they can pocket the 400k, and why many campaigns start a year and a day before the election (so they can draw two years of salary.)

This is a hit piece, revenge, and the setup for a revenge primary for failing to support Pelosi’s bill.

This is nothing unusal from the Buffalo area. I know this first hand. In my earlier days I worked with the Buffalo Democratic machine. To this day they still cannot figure out why Buffalo is broke every year. They couldn’t figure out why the state stepped in to take over their finances.

But I'll be amazed if the district's still around after the next census, so I doubt Massa really gives a dang about what he does or how he votes.
