New Study Shows Young Will Suffer Under Obamacare
Americans for Tax Reform ^ | Friday, November 6, 2009 | Tim Andrews

In a detailed study released yesterday, Aaron Yelowitz, associate professor of economics at the University of Kentucky, proves what we have been saying all along - that Obamacare will seriously hurt young people.

Professor Yelowitz writes:

One of the most interesting questions about the health care overhaul now moving through Congress is how it would affect young adults. That legislation would force most or all Americans to purchase health insurance (an “individual mandate”) and would impose price controls on health insurance (“community rating”) that would limit insurers’ ability to offer lower premiums to low-risk enrollees.

I dealt with this issue here before; this new weblog entry, from Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) [via CATO], further confirms this.

There is so much being discussed, over this issue, but not enough emphasis is being placed on how these socialist health care proposals will hurt young Americans.

The middle-aged and the old aren’t going to do so well, either.

Actually its a scheme that transfers wealth from the young to the old. And it taxes the next generation heavily to pay for current beneficiaries. Obamacare is the most retrogressive piece of legislation ever proposed by a Congress.

In other words, everyone will be screwed.

It is a scheme alright and all those young oh-so-smart who voted for hope and change will be getting just what they voted for.

It’s a terrible deal. I hope the Senate can stop it!

It transfers wealth from the young to the bureaucrats. It will cut off the old from health care. Given Obamacare, I will not dare to retire. I will be a non-productive old guy, the kind that will languish perpetually at the end of the line for health care and be flat denied treatment that costs more than a couple of codones. If it passes Congress I will be looking to relocate offshore. Quito might be nice. It’s cheap and one can buy modern medical attention there regardless of the status of government medicine. The gradual disappearance of effective antibiotics won’t affect me at my age but my children will face a world with medicine of the 1910 variety.
Obamacare cuts everyone off eventually, even Wall Street and the Political Class.

Surprise, surprise! The baby-boomers continue to steal from the younger generations. Baby-boomer greed knows no bounds.

You need a clue, the boomers are the generation that moved this country right, from those running the nation in the 1960s and 1970s.

In 1972 the 18-29 year old vote went Republican, in 2008, that vote went 66% for Barack Obama, it is the heart of his support.
