DC tells Catholic Church Comply or Bye Bye
Tony Perkins' Washington Update Email | November 12, 2009 | Tony Perkins

Posted on 11/13/2009 6:57:33 AM PST by misharu

The D.C. City Council took one step closer to allowing same sex "marriages" in the District of Columbia on Tuesday when they voted the legislation out of the Committee on Public Safety & Judiciary.

The panel refused to include protections for religious organizations--putting at risk the numerous churches in the region that provide goods and services to the needy who would have to decide between their faith or compliance with the city's commands. One of the largest area provider of relief services, the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, took a stand yesterday, just as their counterparts in Massachusetts's had done in that state, and refused to back down to the D.C. Council's bullying tactics.

The Catholic Church provides a wide range of direct services for those in need in our nation's capitol, including physical and mental health care, legal care, immigration, employment services, counseling, shelter, education, adoption, foster care and services for the developmentally disabled. During the committee proceedings many of the council members were openly mocking religious concerns and one councilman, David Catania, told those gathered that if people of faith refuse to comply with his demands, the city will find someone else to take over everything they do. That will be very difficult for the city to do for they will quickly find, without faith there is little good works. It is very telling of the priorities of these politicians who would put the desires of the homosexual community over the needs of the poor.

The churches should just close their doors to the needy. Might seem harsh, but let’s see how well the indigent do without those services.

This is what happens to a city to fosters a militant homosexual lobby in its midst. Tolerance for me, but not for thee. DC is propably the largest gay mecca on the east coast, second only to NYC. So, we shall see how tolerant the gaybees can be when they reach critical mass in a city.

It's tempting to consider just pulling up stakes and moving out in the face of these statists bullies but what fate would befall the poor, the elderly, the infirmed? They'd be carved up for the parts, commoditized, traded on the Soros body parts market, or left to die on a closet shelf.

The Church has to stay in the game lest evil wins.

Not close their doors, but only do what can be provided by the contributions of the Faithful. Having the Church spend taxpayer money is not doing good works. the good works come from the Faithful contributing their money and the Cghurch performing good works with that. The first Christians in jerusalem did not ask Rome or Herod for money to spend. they collected it from the Faithful.

Indeed IT is coming,

“Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” 1 Peter 4:16, 17.

Things are about to become very difficult. Darkness has fallen over the eyes of the people.

What would be good is if all Catholic charity in the US stopped for one week.

It would be hard especially because most of it is parish specific.

The Archdiocese should cut off all contracts with the District before it even gets that far. The Archdiocese should continue offering the same services, but under their own terms. True, they may not be able to do as much without the public funding, but who cares?

Performing social services should be one of the primary works of the Catholic Church.

Do you mean the church has to provide same sex marriages in compliance with the city’s ordinances? The church must never yield to the devils demand. The citizens of the city must bear the responsibility for the poor etc., if they allow their leaders to enact such laws, then they must pay. Never should the church for any reason compromise. I believe Jesus said on an occasion “the poor you will always have” in Matthew 26:9-11.

25% of all hospital beds are in a building with the word Saint on the door. You want a healthcare crisis? We’ll give you one.

The fascists want to force people to choose between their beliefs and their jobs. Do what the fascist laws tell you to do or lose your job and go to jail.

I am in a very small parish in a small town and I just think of what our volunteers do, it is a lot and that is just counting their volunteerism, not the Thanksgiving baskets or the Christmas baskets or the fund raising dinners for people in need or the donations to the food pantry or....
