Lots of great points in this ariticle, but McVeigh saw his act as a form of post-Waco retribution.
An interesting point —after he returned from the Gulf War, in fact he was pretty serious about working for the Bridge Toll Authority in his home state. He got one of the highest scores ever recorded (?) for the position he aimed for, but was not hired. I remember it being alleged that the reason was affirmative action, but I cannot state this with much confidence.
I never read that this figured largely —or at all— in his eventual act of terrorism.
I only mean that if he had found a stable job and had gotten married with kids, I doubt any of this would have happened.
In fairness I also think that if this latest nut had been married with kids that perhaps he would not have committed his great crime, either.
