He prayed every day at the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring, Md., a devout Muslim who, despite asking to be discharged from the U.S. Army, according to his aunt, was on the eve of his first deployment to war. On Thursday, authorities said Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old Arlington, Va.-born psychiatrist, shot and killed at least 12 people at Fort Hood.***
Nidal Hasan spent much of his professional career at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., caring for the victims of trauma, yet he spoke openly of his deep opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He steered clear of female colleagues and, despite devout religious practices, listed himself in Army records as having no religious preference, co-workers said.***
From 2003 through last summer, he was an intern, resident and then fellow at Walter Reed, where he worked as a liaison between wounded soldiers and the hospital's psychiatry staff.***
He himself had been affected by the physical and mental injuries he saw while working as a psychiatrist at Walter Reed for nearly eight years, according to his aunt. “Some people can take that, and some can't,” Noel Hasan said. “He must have snapped. They ignored him. It was not hard to know when he was upset. He was not a fighter, even as a child and young man. But when he became upset, his face turns red. You can read him in his face.”***
A co-worker at Walter Reed said Hasan would not allow his photo to be taken with female co-workers, which became an issue during Christmas season when employees often took group photos. Co-workers would find a solo photo of him and post it on the bulletin board without his permission.

He worked for Homeland Security in Obozo’s transition team.
Was Hasan heckled by the Troops at Hood for his sympathy for his fellow Muslims. Did he explode and shoot a bunch of them?
Was this about his connection to the Obozo team. Many in the Mil would not like him for this.

Have seen this before — young officer gets accepted into the doctor program of the military, DoD (taxpayers) spends a lot of money getting him his medical degree, spend more money for his internship and residency, new doctor gets his first position, makes in the small six figures and then decides he doesn’t want to be in the military any more because he can make more on the outside.
All of a sudden they become anti-war and anti-military. We had one of those at Wright-Patterson.
He was NOT going to the war to kill people but to continue to help those with emotional problems from the trauma of war. He then goes and KILLS his fellow UNARMED soldiers!!! His motive was pretty obvious.
I was thinking the same thing.
If he really wanted out all he had to do was to tell his superiors if they didn’t discharge him he was going to shoot as many soldiers and civilians as possible as soon as he had a good opportunity and he would’ve been discharged. So this is BS.
How strange esp since he ran around in man jammies.
Look like a case of SDS* to me, more so than wanting the bucks of a civilian practice.

Yes he has benefited from the U.S. military from the start (ROTC). ROTC was a four year commitment, and he would have had at least another six for the Medical School. I don’t know if he gets credit after Medical school (residency etc or not) but he was on the hook for at least eight years of service I bet.
I have talked to my daughters about the possibility of the Health Professions scholarship (especially makes sense if you are going to Vet school since the after graduation dollars are less).
He looks like Dom Deluise.
