My personal observations have always been that contrary to popular opinion police officers are seldom experts on firearms and the majority of them are not skilled marksmen.
In fairness to them, they do a very difficult job and being a gunfighter is but a remote possibility for most of them. It’s also far easier to stroll around firing at unarmed victims that it would have been for the police officers who had to contend with both being shot at and worried about hitting innocents in the process.
many years ago, there was a horrific shootout with the perps speeding across town and finally ended up in a house....one of the police officers ( a woman ) got shot....in her foot....from her own gun.....
