When did the semi automatic appear. I heard it was 2 handguns.
"The M9 Beretta pistol is the standard Army sidearm. It replaced the M1911A1 pistol in .45 caliber. It is basically a Beretta 92F pistol and fires the 9mm NATO round. A semiautomatic, double-action pistol, the M9 is more lethal, lighter, and safer than its predecessors. ...The M9 pistol has a 15-round magazine, and may be fired without a magazine inserted."
Fully loaded, (with an additional round in each chamber) two of these would carry thirty-two (32) 9m rounds. A trained combat shooter can replace the magazine (with 15 additional rounds) in a couple of seconds. Reportedly the killer had advanced combat shooting training.
I read the Killeen paper and the Waco paper — believe it was in the Killeen paper.
So much has changed in such a short period of time.
Gets better — Dallas Morning News is reporting:
Officials say Hasan used two handguns, including a semi-automatic, to fire at fellow soldiers. Neither of the guns was military-issue.
