On the Tragic Shooting Today at Ft. Hood

Todd and I would like to offer our condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic shooting today at Ft. Hood. Our thoughts and prayers will be with them.

When Sarah says she is praying for the victims she MEANS it. On the other hand, seeing Obama today, not even mention what had happened til 5 minutes after his speech to give a “shout out” just showed what kind of disgusting supposed “President” we have in office right now. A disgrace to the Presidency doesn’t even come close to how I would describe him

Bravo, Sarah. Classy, direct, and sincere. Had President Obama made such a statement at the beginning of his speech, I would have given him credit for putting aside politics and being a leader in the wake of tragedy. As it stands, he pushed Ft. Hood back several minutes and addressed the shootings in a manner I can only call perfunctory.

There’s a difference between being cool-headed and being cold, Mr. President.

Yes, he's okay. I got a call at work this afternoon and it was him telling me that he was all right and that regardless of whatever I was going to hear about Ft. Hood, he was okay but was not allowed to say much else. This was before the news broke, so I knew something pretty bad had happened down there.

Thanks for thinking about him! It is funny how we take for granted that being in CONUS is automatically "safe," and it is compared to overseas. But the crazies are here too...

Anyhoo, I posted her entire comment. Two sentences, succinct, to the point, honoring the military and respectful of the dead and their families.

I got another call from sonny boy a bit ago, telling me that he was finally on his way home; he asked me if there was any more news, since he had not been in a position to hear much for a while. When I told him that the perp was still alive, he was none too happy. When I added that the POS had gotten a promotion despite a negative review, he went ballistic.

(One could insert a long story here about the point system and promotions for people in his MOS. I won't. Quick take: I'd be po'd too.)
