On an Army base? How?
As far as I know, civilian guns are strictly prohibited on military bases.
Look for Pelosi & the media to blame this on all the “anti-government anger” stirred up by Bachmann’s ‘house call’ today.
I left out the option of it being a soldier. I didn’t want to speculate that one of our own would do it.

In my day they were stored in the armory if you lived in the barracks on post.....living off-post with them was a different matter, but even then, you could elect to store them in your units armory if you wished

Exactly, there is more gun control on a military base then in the civilian world. Unauthorized use of weaponry, even in benign instances, can lead to serious disciplinary actions. The military takes weapons safety VERY seriously.
