Romney's PAC contributed to Hoffman after he became the Republican nominee in the 23rd. The PAC never contributed to Dede. They can't contribute to every Republican, and certainly not to a third party candidate unless there is a demonstrated chance of winning, as there was for Hoffman.
The blame for Hoffman's loss is mainly the responsibility of Dede Scozzafava.
I am tired of posters here at NR unfairly dumping on Romney, without acknowledging his work and his endorsements and campaign help. I like the guy, and if some of you want to keep up your internecine throat-cutting, my feeling is that you can just go...leave your comments below.

FINALLY!...SOME HOPE AND CHANGE I CAN BELIEVE IN!!!......

Not much leadership from him here.
We need someone - new to a presidential run IMHO - that can lead and bring conservatism back into the GOP. I think Mitt fails on leadership and conservatism. His healthcare legislation is a particular albatross in fighting the democrats.

What’s this “we”?
Newt does this. In his case, I think he means “Callista and I.” The two of them actually do things together, like making videos.
Even Popes don’t say “we” anymore.

Mitt’s career ended sometime during the last two weeks. Evidently he hasn’t received the news yet.

Can you "feel" it? I can. I was at 9-12 in DC ... and I've been PAYING ATTENTION this year. Town Halls, blogs, Tea Parties. Did you ever sit at the beach at low tide and barely notice (at first) that the water is creeping toward you? Then, as you sit there reading your book, suddenly your shoes are filled with water ... where the hell did that come from? Ah, the tide's coming in, barely noticeable at first ...then suddenly its up around your ankles. I think that's what's happening daily in this great country. So slowly at first. Barely noticeable with tea parties here and there, town hall meetings made things a little "louder", then 9-12 exploded onto the scene and then came the conservative earthquake (just a little tremor) last night. We're ankle deep ... its moving ...and its moving toward us. Now its starting to get exciting.

and like about Romneys impositions of gay marriage, socialized
medicine, liberal murderer-freeing judges, and the BIGdig-coverup-for-campaign-donation-to-Romney
all without votes?
THE REAL DEAL:
"Romney in Seven Words"
"On Wednesday, after his loss in the New Hampshire primary, Gov. Mitt Romney returned to Boston
to lick his wounds and conduct a telephone fundraiser before heading off to his next must win state of Michigan.
ABC Radio microphones were there and they featured an audio quote from Romney in their top of the hour news broadcasts.
Romney was encouraging his phone bank volunteers with a little pep talk when he unintentionally summed up his entire campaign;
ironically hitting upon the reason why he has failed to gain any traction with conservatives despite spending the most money of any Republican.
ABC News Radio was contacted by telephone and confirmed the following quote from their report.
" Hit the phones today make all the promises you have to, and
make sure that we get the funds that we need to keep on propelling this campaign forward with power and energy.
Make all the promises you have to.
Thats Romney in a nutshell.
Of all the Republicans running, he alone has sought to clarify, cover,
and indeed change past positions in an attempt to curry favor with conservatives.
In the process, Romney has developed a reputation not as a principled conservative,
but as a politician who will say almost anything and take almost any position to win votes. "
