Looking to bump up their party school ranking, College Dems at Ohio University (Athens) are giving away beer money to voters if they bring a friend.
In an email Vice President of College Dems, Kellie Galan, reminded fellow Dems that a friend at the polls is worth $5. See email below.

The Ohio Revised Code, would call this more than a no-no.
(3) Advance, pay, or cause to be paid or procure or offer to procure money or other valuable thing to or for the use of another, with the intent that it or part thereof shall be used to induce such person to vote or to refrain from voting. (B) Whoever violates this section is guilty of bribery, a felony of the fourth degree; and if he is a candidate he shall forfeit the nomination he received, or if elected to any office he shall forfeit the office to which he was elected at the election with reference to which such offense was committed. Effective Date: 01-01-1983
Ms. Galan could be facing felony charges if the state takes up the matter. Ohios election is tomorrow.
"As it happens, the 4th Ward which they mention specifically is the only contested City Council election in Athens. All other seats in the City Council are held by Democrats who run uncontested.
The 4th Ward is the only City Council seat with anyone running, period. The opponent in the 4th Ward happens to be a qualified Republican who has much public support."
You think she'll get a job offer from ACORN????
They’ve been taught well by the lefty professors who give grade points for those who attend ‘anti-war rallies’.
What is the point of having a law, with procribed penalties if the law is never applied? Do they feel the same way about murder, rape and theft? Murder only affects the few who knew the victim, same thing with rape and theft. Election fraud affects everyone in the country - so it should be treated even more serious than murder, rape of theft. If I had my way, ol'sparky would be used to eliminate vote fraud.
Now, I may feel strongly about my party's candidate; but I'm not so concerned about his political future as I am my own life - I suspect that most Americans feel the exact same way.
come on, it’s dems doing this which means it’s perfectly ok..matter of fact, it’s actually a resume’ enhancer for them..
I’d love it to backfire and everyone would bring a GOP friend.
Rape, yes. Er, I mean, fake accusations of rape. Ask the Duke boys if "deprivation of civil rights under color of law" has any meaning or remedy in North Carolina.
Can't fix stupid, I guess.
Yeah, wouldn't that serve 'em right.
This is so obviously voter fraud - because there is no opponent in the 4th Ward - and is only intended to get people to vote for Dems that it needs to be shut down NOW!!! For God’s sake, this is VOTER FRAUD IN OUR FACE! We cannot let these thugs get away with this sh*t!!!
Since when can people be openly paid to vote?
“What is the point of having a law, with procribed penalties if the law is never applied?”
JESUS, DUDE...
haven’t you learned by now that Crimes are not crimes when Committed-While-Democrat? Just ask anyone in the Non-Fox mainstream media, they’ll tell ya’!
Do you suggest you put my sister in the electric chair because the typical American youth is too lazy and apathetic to get out and vote? No, I am sorry, that wouldn’t be why she would be electrocuted with nearly 2,500 volts of the worst way to die. It would be because she used poor judgment in an email. You want my sister to die because of an email. It is so hard to tell who deserves to die these days.
There is a major point every uninformed person seems to be missing, or ignoring. There is no mention or intention to pay money to those who vote republican or democrat. It was simply to vote. Perhaps none of you have friends who have opposing points of view on politics. However, it is hard to avoid this among the youth. So yes, it is quite likely that there would be many votes made republican. But these days it is more important to get people to get out and vote. Voting for your candidate is just icing on the cake.
I should also clarify that people were not even getting paid to vote. If anyone on this board has any interest in hearing both sides of a story and not just sticking to your own biased news plugs, please read this statement made by the OUCD Communications Director: http://www.athensnews.com/news/local-news/29531-official-college-dem-response-to-voter-fraud-allegations
When someone, with intent to deprive another person of basic rights, consciously takes steps to do so - they are a good candidate for the chair. If I violate your basic rights by robbing your home - I should be killed. If I rape your sister, to satisfy my basic urges - fire up ol'sparky. If I impose my leadership, by denying your vote and thereby rape our constitution - that is even worse.
Remember what Stalin said about voting? "Voting is good, but what is more important is who counts the ballots". A person who sponsors voter fraud, in essense robs and rapes every person (both Democrat and Republican) in the state; by denying them their most basic civil right.
Humans are not endangered species - I see no reason why such an individual should be afforded the luxury of reaping any reward for their behavior, let alone be free to commit such a crime again. Using ol'sparky is a great way to not only clean up the process; but a means to ensure that future elections run cleanly. If America is destined to be a totalitarian country, ran by a Marxist; then let it be done legitimately by the will of the people. Then, again quoting Stalin "One man, one vote, but only one time".
The GOTV program that has triggered the false reports was an effort by the Athens County Democratic Party to compensate volunteers financially for their time spent canvassing.
Do you know what a volunteer is? It's someone, who WITHOUT PAY donates his time, energy and resources to promote a cause. After all, all ACORN did was 'compensate' volunteers too, right? Sorry, having a stupid sister does not mean you get a 'bye' on the letters of the law. She knew better, or should certainly have known better to do what she did; now she gets to pay the consequences for her actions.
