PRUDEN: Something really scary for Obama's Democrats
The Washington Times ^ | October 27, 2009 | Wesley Pruden

Posted on 10/27/2009 9:13:43 AM PDT by Senator Goldwater

This is one Mr. Deeds who apparently isn't going to town. The collapse of the Democratic campaign for governor of Virginia speaks volumes about what the body politic is trying to tell Obama's Democrats.

They're learning, painfully, that campaigning without George Bush is baffling, frustrating and scary. Worse, it offers a preview of what the congressional campaigning will be like next year.

For weeks, The Washington Post, house organ of the national Democratic Party, pounded away at McDonnell, the Republican nominee, for having written politically incorrect term papers in graduate school, as proof that he doesn't like women very much.

Only a month ago, Deeds, the Post's horse in the race, wouldn't talk about anything but the McDonnell graduate-school thesis. The public-opinion polls continue to show McDonnell ahead, despite all the Post's ineffective deeds, and with a lengthening lead.

Suddenly, the White House is treating the bereft Deeds as if he's on the fourth day of a three-day underarm deodorant pad. Bill Clinton, accustomed to speaking to cheering thousands at a hundred grand a pop, was dispatched to a Deeds rally to set the throng on fire with one of his late-October stumpwallopers. The rally, such as it was, was held not at an arena or a hotel - not even a Motel 6 - but in a campaign office in the Washington suburbs. The "throng" was counted in the dozens, about the size of a PTA meeting.

"These polls are either accurate, or they're not," he said, delivering an insight worthy of a Harvard poli-sci professor. "So are the polls right? The answer is yes, no, and maybe."

But what else could he say? Dispatched for mortuary duty, Bubba could only sympathize with the preacher called on to say something nice over the grave of the town bootlegger.

“They’re learning, painfully, that campaigning without George Bush is baffling, frustrating and scary.”

Very profound comment.

Wow! Such eloquence from Clinton! Deeds is dead (politically).

They tried and are trying to “macaca” McDonnell with no luck! Voters are on to the BS. McDonnell got endorsements from 2 of the most lib counties in VA CofC’s. Fairfax and Hampton Roads. A recent poll of likely dem voters said some are staying home. Deeds is a twirp. Bob is up 14 points!! This will send a HUGE message to two other twirps...Warner and Webb.

My hope is that we don’t get overly confident about these 2009 elections. We must continue to work hard for, and back, our conservative candidates—or barring a conservative candidate in a race, at least back someone with anything other than a D after his name.

Too bad for Deeds - I heard he was kind to animals - but then so was Hitler. As they say in LA, Adios Amigo.

As far as I’m concerned, if they’re not a Reagan pro-life, peace through strength, moral conservative, they’re on their own.

At least we're able to read his thesis. Can't say that about Obama. Or Hillary.

just as leaks from the Post newsroom reveal that the newspaper has a seven-part series ready for publication to prove that Bob McDonnell has had a lifelong hostility to those of the pink persuasion.

I wonder if this is true, or just another one of Pruden's biting rhetorical flourishes?

The Post pulling this kind of late-hit a week out from the election wouldn't change the outcome, but would certainly make things more interesting. Especially for the Post. ;-)

Isn’t it beautiful? The Dems still don’t get that America has pretty much figured out that they lied but they keep on being the most arrogant SOB’s ever. The supporters are the worst and are pushing anyone who isn’t a far left loon into the Conservative side of the isle and not a single one of them seems to notice. They will be floored if they lose most seats in 2010 and it will al; be their own faults for the disgusting way they have behaved.

Agreed. It is vital that we take back the house and/or get over 40 votes in the Senate. Otherwise they will just continue to cram Socialist crap down our throats under cover of darkness.
