I mean that the taxes on medical equipment and supplies and all that stuff will happen and if your state “opts out” your still paying for those taxes and fees.
It should be “opt in” with those taxes only affecting those states. Of course, that will not happen.
If your state “opts out” you are still PAYING for it, you are just not getting anything back.
Nope. The taxes and stuff are not options.
This MIGHT be one of the stepping stones to reformation of the country.
States will have to stand up on their hind legs soon, and they need impetus to do so.
“Dem leaders ‘leaning strongly’ toward opt-out for public healthcare plan”
That means you hve to pay for your own insurance and, pay a tax to the government for not buying theirs.
It is critically important that we make sure everybody knows that a “public option with opt-out” is just a public option. The states with no money will opt-in, and it will be just as bad as if every state was in, or actually even more so.
It’s like saying you’d have a stimulus package but allow states to opt out of getting the money — and then giving the money they opt out of to other states.
And that's where the real opportunity resides for Republicans - to explain that the Democrats are just putting a new lipstick on the same pig and calling it different names - instead of a "public option" pig it's now an "opt-out" / "opt-in" / "trigger" pig. To paraphrase Shakespeare, A pig by any other name would smell as...
People don't like the "public option" / nationalization, and would not take kindly to the Democratic trickery, and will let the GOP know that they are not fooled by the semantics, so they would not go making deals based on changes in terminology.
my bet is whatever is most antithetical to freedom is what the Dims will do.
