good news on NJ - per Rasmussen poll yesterday, Christie leading by 2 - as Daggett falls, his vote will move to Christie and not Corzine.

“.. as Daggett falls, his vote will move to Christie and not Corzine.”

That’s what I was figuring would happen. Almost can’t wait for election day. To be over!

BTW, I do intend to send him some e-mail after the election, because he is wrong about the science. I believe though he is sincere, and will actually listen when he actually looks at the science and finds out what it really says.

He’s no ideologue when it comes to climate change.

Gotta be an outlier”

May not be as much of an outlier as you think.
Look at today's poll from PPP (a Democratic Party polling outfit).
McDonnell is ahead in that poll by 18 points as well. He now leads 52-40, up from 48-43 three weeks ago.

Gonna be hard for ACORN to make up that difference.

Thank goodness VA has come to its senses. Wish NJ would do likewise, but don’t have much hope of that happening.

Watch Deeds get thrown under the bus soon (”terrible candidate, wouldn’t listen to our coaching, no reflection on Obama, blah, blah”). May even be an article to that effect this week. If so, it will be proof they know the election is McDonnell’s.

Good to see somebody picked up on the humor intended. The recipient apparently whiffed on the meaning.

It’s a shame the state senate is not up for election.

If McDonnell, Bollings, and Kenny win by double digits and gain House seats, then there are rumors of a couple of Dem state senators might switch.

Good. The Senate I believe will not be up again before the leg deals with redistricting. That’s what news articles in 2007 when then won it indicated.

Impy, I know that we’ve discussed this issue in the past, but I still doubt that the Democrats can railroad a redistricting plan through before the new Senate is seated in January of 2012. If the GOP controls the House and the governorship, the Democrats may be willing to vote for a map that does not completely screw them over rather than risk having a stalemate that would be resolved in the GOP’s favor in January 2012 when the new Senate is seated.

Actually, Impy, I recall now that your initial point was that the current VA Senate would be able to draw the lines that would be used in the 2011 legislative elections. I still find that very hard to believe, since the state legislative redistricting plan following the 2000 Census wasn’t adopted until May 11, 2001 and did not receive DOJ preclearance until June 15, 2001 (for the state House map) and July 10, 2001 (for the Senate map). It is true that the Senate that was in power at the time of the 2000 Census was able to draw the lines for its next election, but such election was in 2003, not in 2001. Even if the VA legislature adopts a state legislative redistricting plan by March of 2011 (which would be extremely difficult to do, since the Census Bureau won’t be reporting population data by census block until late December 2010 at the earliest), and such plans receive pre-clearance from the DOJ by April, it would still be impossible for such maps to be used for the 2011 state Senate elections, since the filing deadline for major-party candidates is in early April and the primary is in early June.

Good points all.

The thing about redistricting is that, while we wouldn’t be in as strong a position as 2001, we will have the Governor and a strong majority in the house. Plus, Lt. Governor Bill Bolling presides over the Senate.

There’s also speculation of some Senate defections from the dems. At the very least, they know they’re going to have to play along to get anything done.

I wouldn’t expect massive changes in the next redistricting.

WayneS & ScottInVA: Then what do you think he meant when he spoke about "do[ing] everything that we can to reduce CO2 emissions?" And what mechanisms do you think he proposes?

freedomwarrior998: So what is it? Earlier I was being called a Deeds campaign plant because I found it troubling that McDonnell spoke so strongly in favor of the global warming scam and associated policy "solutions." And now you're telling me that, no, the Deeds campaign is attacking him as a global warming denier. So, according to this thread, the Deeds campaign's tactic is to attack McDonnell as a global-warming denier while simultaneously attacking his for being a global-warming supporter? Hmmmm... actually, given the stupidity of Deeds' campaign, that could be spot on.

WayneS: I have no clue about what the Post quoted. I don't go near that rag. Apparently, you are familiar with the Post... Don't let the others on this thread know; they might out you as a plant! Who are you, Van Jones? AG Holder? Donna Brazile?

genetic homophobe: Touche! And far closer to the mark than the other people on this thread that seem to love to spot trolls, DU infiltrators, DNC agent provocateurs, and even Attorney Generals! Yes, I have Newt's Man of the Year issue archived away somewhere... and am really, really ticked about his stance regarding Scozzafava. It's part of a problem that I see in the GOP leadership and I know that my sentiment is shared among others on this site. I guess I picked the wrong thread to rant in... folks seem okay with a GOP gubernatorial candidate that accepts the global warming scam. The global warming ball of b.s. is one place where I simply have to draw the line.

ReagansRaiders: Yes, I am quite familiar with Allen's win as I cut my teeth and worked my ass off on that campaign. Sadly, the Virginia of 1993 seems like a lifetime ago and a world far different from today's commonwealth. I'm sour on McDonnell, but will certainly crack open the Scotch and cigars if the VA Dems get trounced to that level this year.

Yeah I remember.

The only thing I know is everyone at the time said winning the Senate guaranteed the rats a seat at the table.

It would be nice to remove all doubt by having a party switch or 2.

Senator Ralph Northam who beat a Republican incumbent in 2007 was gonna switch early this year but the rats found out cause someone leaked it and they pulled out the long knives and he chickened out.
