Nikole Churchill, 22, won the contest at the college town in southern Virginia, but while she was all smiles, not everyone in the community was happy about the victory, the Times reports.
As well as the walkout, Miss Churchill had to contend with scowls, rather than the traditional sunny smiles, when she posed for a portrait with the runners up. All nine of the other contestants in the competition were black.
The following day Miss Churchill was heckled at a college football game and a previous Miss Hampton University said she was "very shocked" there was a white winner. "We've never had one before," Patrece Parson said.

The one in the white dress looks more like a beauty to me.

American whites have by and large given up their racism, at least of the most overt sorts.
American blacks have not, as this incident poignantly demonstrates. Many blacks don’t comprehend just how racist they are, nor to they seem to have any idea how their overt racism is seen and interpreted by the rest of us.
But, they had best get a sense of it soon, and rid themselves of their very blatant and offensive racism. Should they not, they risk the white population inevitably getting the idea that if racism is to be practiced by blacks, it had best be practiced by ALL of us.
Is that what blacks want? Because that is what we will all eventually get. All racism is poison, and black racism is no exception. Blacks need to make a serious and sustained effort to root it out. Can you see Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton playing a role in this effort?
She looks like Salome. Hide John the Baptist.
Next time, make it clear that whites are allowed to enter the contest but may not win.
Remember, only Whites can be racist.

Next, we'll hear protests from gays if a heterosexual male won whatever 'beauty' pageant they might have (although, I might be wrong about this).
Big tall girl there, maybe winning the slam/dunk competition pushed her to the win.

The winner is beautiful and the young woman in Pink is lovely as well. The other two in the photo look like something Josh Gates might spend an episode searching for.
