Former President George H.W. Bush: Olbermann, Maddow 'A Couple of Sick Puppies'
NewsBusters ^ | October 16, 2009 | Jeff Poor

Perhaps the 41st president still has it in him - at least when it comes to the left crying foul about the so-called uncivil political discourse on right, but being equally if not worse on the left, particularly on MSNBC, the so-called "Place for Politics."

In an interview on Oct. 16 with CBS Radio, former President George H.W. Bush took a very critical tact with MSNBC hosts Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, deeming them "a couple of sick puppies." (via MSNBC's Oct. 16 "The Rachel Maddow Show")

"I don't like it," Bush said. "I think the cables have a lot to do with it. I'll take you back to when I was president - we got tons of criticism, but didn't seem day in and day out quite as personal as some of these talk show people."

A little late.

The problem with MSNBC is their strict policy of only hiring nasty ill-tempered angry vindictive homosexuals to cover current events. The result is uniformly sick.

I just don't see how he can be amiable with people that are so nasty to his son. At some point, you just have to say thanks, but no thanks. It makes me lose respect for him.

But, you know what? At this point with no one but a few left wing loons watching these people, it might be better for all Conservatives and Conservative voices to not comment on them at all.

The reporting of what they said is viewed or heard by a hundred times the people then ever watch or see the original program.

Ignore MSNBC. Then they would be like one person in a theater, all alone, yelling “fire!”

I agree with you. I think he should be defending his son a lot more then he is. He needs to throw of the mantle of civility of the former president and go Carter on all the critics.

I always liked him but he misses the point. There was NO FNC when he lost to Clinton in 1992. There was no FNC in 1993-1994 when Clinton was brought down. Rush was alone.

I actually enjoy MSNBC progressive nutcases now that dems are in control. You can see what they are up to, and watch FNC with much better ratings and get a much better picture of the situation. The 3 networks didnt help him in 1992.

The Bible specifically says not to break bread with enemies and to 'run' from evil. He has cozied up to evil so many times and these people are enemies. He doesn't seem to have a 'clue' which is what has put us in this position in the first place; no one seems to be able to discern anything.

You’re right. I never could understand the cozy relationship he seemed to have with Clinton. It kind of made me sick. BO has built his whole president persona on how bad all the presidents of the US that came before him were and that would include Bush Sr. BO deserves zero respect from any former presidents as he shows zero respect for those that came before him. BO is a punk and should be treated as one.

LOL! Calling olberman ‘talk show people’ has to hurt. Has to, his ego is to big for it not to hurt.

Oh, this would be exactly what the liberals would want. They would love "daddy" to run to "junior's" rescue. 41 (father) is smarter than to fall for that one. W. is a tough guy and doesn't need to be defended from creeps.

I didn't always agree with George Bush (father) on everything, especially the confusing naming of his kid! But I have to count him as a great president. He had a few liberal, anti-Constitutional policies, but so did Reagan. He did show good judgment in world matters, especially in regards to how he handled Iraq. What I respect about him is that he is genuine class, unlike crass Bill Clinton and take-no-blame, narcissist Obama.

Yeah, but the guy still eagerly awaits the "NEW WORLD ORDER" as far as I know.

Can anyone tell me otherwise?
