Twenty-nine percent (29%) of Republican voters nationwide say former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is their pick to represent the GOP in the 2012 Presidential campaign.

nobody surveyed me....
the answer is......Sarah PALIN!!!!!
I don't care who endorsed who, I look at the record. ANYBODY can give lip service; heck, Mitt Romney convinced people he was conservative. But, NOBODY has a voting and acting record like Ron Paul, NOBODY. NOBODY has been more anti-big-government and more principled than that man. From now on, no McCains, Bushes, Romneys, Giulianis, or any RINO will get my vote. Nobody will get my vote except the person with the most conservative record, not conservative message. Right now, Ron Paul has the absolute most small-government record bar none. I've done my research and he's much more small-government than Palin, and I love Palin.
So long as Tina Fey is alive and well, Sarah’s chances
of winning are dim at best.
“What he will do is alienate the constitutional conservative, social libertarian, anti bible-belt-bigot part of the party. I really don’t know how to fix conservatism. There isn’t room for Huck’s supporters and for the rest of us in Regan’s wide tent.”
There was room when Reagan served 8 years. There was room when Bush served 8 years.
Constitutional conservatives are often Christians; Christians are often constitutional conservatives. Witness Clarence Thomas for one. Myself for another. Doubtless most FReepers as well.
And exactly what is a bible-belt-bigot? Someone who is not an atheist?
I can.
Rasmussen is the most trustworthy, and one of the most accurate pollsters out there. The poll is fine.
Thing is, there is nothing to worry about in this poll, with over 3 years to go to the 2012 elections, and over 2 years to go to the Republican primaries.
A quick look at the polls for the Republican primaries with from 2006 and 2007, with less than 2 years to go to the 2008 elections, and only a year out to the Republican primaries shows what I am talking about:
November 2006:
"Giuliani 24% Rice 18% McCain 17%

Democrats carried the day in Election 2006 and the 2008 campaign has already begun. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani leads the GOP field and is supported by 24%. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in second with 18% support.
Senator John McCain earned a lot of important friends with his aggressive campaigning in 2006, but he starts the 2008 campaign as the choice for 17% of voters.
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney comes in fourth with 9% support."

December 2006:
"Giuliani Leads McCain by Seven

Rudy Giuliani remains the most popular presidential hopeful for Republican Party sympathizers in the United States, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 30 per cent of respondents would vote for the former New York City mayor in a 2008 primary.
Arizona senator John McCain is second with 23 per cent, followed by former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich with nine per cent, and Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with eight per cent."

April 2007:
" LA Times/Bloomberg Poll: McCain collapses to 3rd place; Thompson strong; Hillary has huge lead
REPUBLICAN DATA Giuliani 29%, Thompson 15%, McCain 12%, Romney 8%, Gingrich 8%. Others or none of the above, 28%.
Giuliani beats Clinton by 6, 48-42; McCain loses by 3, 42-45. Both lose to Obama (42-46 and 40-48, respectively).
61% of GOP wants to move beyond Bush's policies; only 30% wish to continue (immigration, war, etc?)"

Februray 2007:
" New York, New York Rudy vs. Hillary in 2008? [NOONAN]
The Wallstreet Journal ^ | Friday, February 9, 2007 12:01 a.m. EST | Peggy Noonan
According to polls, Hillary Clinton holds an early and significant lead among Democratic voters (43%, compared with 22% for Barack Obama in a Fox News poll 10 days ago). She is of course the killer fund-raiser of the race, with one of her contributors crowing this week that she'll raise more money than all the other candidates combined. So let's call her the likely Democratic nominee, even though Mr. Obama hasn't even announced yet. On the Republican side it's Giuliani time, with Fox News putting him at 34% among GOP voters and John McCain coming in second with 22%. He hasn't announced yet either, but this week he filed all the papers. So at the moment, and with keen awareness that not a vote has been cast, it is possible to say the state of New York is poised to become the home of both major-party presidential candidates"

So what happened to that all but certain, President Guiliani or President Hilary Clinton that they had going then?
Neither McCain or 0bama was ever ahead in any of these polls from 2006 or early 2007, yet they came from behind and won their primaries. If even a train wreck like John McCain could come back from behind and win, I don't see why an astute, super smart Sarah Palin can't do much better than McCain did, come 2012.
Huck is “mildly entertaining”.... but Huck = RINO.
Put me down for “none of the above”.
Wait until she starts running ads against Huckabee in Iowa, calling him on the carpet for all the negative statements he’s made about her. She’ll get the sympathy backlash from the women and from evangelicals.
Huckabee has been as bad as the liberal media when it comes to anti-Sarah jokes. When Evangelicals find that out? Look out.
Gee, we lose the liberal/democrat/anti-Christian vote, big deal.
Huckabee and Paul can never win. They don’t look as good on tv as Obama.
Palin is smart and looks better than Obama.
She can win.
Whoever gets the 2012 GOP nod needs to motivate the conservative base, while peeling off just enough of the independents who voted 0bama in 2008. The need not concern themselves with the heathens, as they will vote lib regardless.
Ron Paul is good on everything but world affairs.
But if you plan to ignore the reefs, the mines, and the ice bergs, you better let somebody else drive the boat!
Don’t fall for another Dem “third-party-scam” like ‘R.Perot’.
My money is on Palin. She is so “Reagan”-esque, and so far out of the Wash-elite, she couldn’t get sucked in if she tried. Davey Crocket-like; even her own party-elite attack her. She gets my support for that.
I’m afraid I cannot trust this survey
I can.

Romney is a fake Christian and fake conservative. Chritians ought to rally around Huckabee to stop Romney, the spiritually deaf man.
Huckster is a pro-life liberal. Thanks but a big NO THANKS!
And why shouldn’t Christians rally around Palin? Just because Mike’s a preacher doesn’t mean that he’s “godlier” than Palin. Certainly, Palin’s attitude has been a lot more Christ-like than Huckabee’s, that for sure.
The RINOs are out of touch with the activated conservative base.
If Palin is not nominated it will be catastrophic to the GOP.
There is a reason the media attacks Palin unceasingly. They know she can beat Obama...oh the polls...lmao...Dukakis and Mondale both up big just months away from the General Election...we are talking years here.
Palin’s grandson was born in sin. Palin failed to provide Biblical guidance to Bristol.
Huckabee raised his kids right. Also AR Dems attacked Huckabee with bogus ethic charges. However he stayed on and served 10 years as Governor. Why couldn’t Palin do the same. Huckabee is a Christian leader that America needs.
“Palin failed to provide Biblical guidance to Bristol”
I don’t think you can prove that, unless you’re God.
However, it’s factual that Huckabee’s gluttony is a reality.
Your statistics just proved by point. Now go and try to think about it for a bit.
O can win without the conservative right, hands down, no questions asked. A repbulican cannot win without support from the less than fervently evangelical. When the candidate offends those who just want to be left alone, both by the state and by right wing religious whackos, you are going to lose. You are welcome to your religion. Just don’t try to impose your fervor on me.
