It's simple...we (as a feminized society) have removed or responsible fathers, or ridiculed them to the point they won't taken seriously. I'd be willing to bet the perps either had no father at the home, or if they did it was one who never made them face the consequences of bad behavior.
I believe the country is 55% female, so what did the other 45% do to counter this? When they aren't beating, shooting, or Madoffing each other, I mean.

Quite possible but this is not the type of neighborhood you are thinking off . Deerfield beach is in Broward country and borders Palm Beach counties city of Boca Raton . House prices in this are among the highest in the county so not the kind of place single parent families live.
It is however a very LIBERAL area and Broward county is known for its depravity.
I agree. Rather than attempt to support your comment myself, I would rather post a link to an article written by a FReeper (Nick Danger) and posted here on FR in 2003. The comments are also very well written and in many cases as thought provoking as the article itself.
