Rage at Government for Doing Too Much and Not Enough [RINOs try to hijack, rebuffed by Tea Parties]
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 2009-10-13 | Naftali Bendavid

WASHINGTON -- Americans have historically swung between anger at big business and anger at Washington. This year their rage has targeted business and government with equal fury.

Public frustration over Wall Street failures that led to the financial crisis was typified by the uproar over bonus payments to American International Group Inc. executives. Those feelings haven't dissipated, political strategists say. At the same time, Americans are equally upset at what they call overreaching by Congress and federal bureaucrats, with protesters taking to the streets to decry "socialism" and a "government takeover" of the economy.

Policy makers face a quandary. With voters simultaneously recoiling at laissez-faire policies and a big-government approach neither party in Washington seems capable of corralling an angry public.

"I have had I don't know how many politicians ask, 'Can I speak at your tea party?'" said Catherina Wojtowicz, coordinator of the Chicago Tea Party group. Her response: "Honestly, it's your turn now to shut up, sit down and listen."

. . . . .

For now, neither party's message is catching on in a big way. In the recent Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll, 41% of respondents viewed the Democratic Party positively and 39% viewed it negatively. That is hardly a vote of confidence, but Republicans fared worse, with 43% viewing them unfavorably and only 28% positively.

"The greatest movement within the tea party is 'None of the above,'" said Jim Bancroft, a founder of the tea-party group in Hartford, Conn. Officials in both political parties "need to be totally removed -- every single one of them," he said.

I neither want nor intend to be “corralled” by the two sides of the “ruling” political party. I want both of them OUTTA HERE, permanently. I want and intend to have the CONSTITUTION RESTORED AS THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND. I want and intend to see FedGov a fraction of its current size. I want and intend to see the “political class” back UNDER THE THUMB of We, the People, where they belong. I want and intend to see safeguards put into the Constitution which will KEEP those sleazeballs where they belong. I want and intend to see the power of the INDIVIDUAL restored. There needs to be Constitutional protection for proper “criticism” of practicing politicians by their individual constituents, especially that criticism which leads to fatal injuries to those whose activities would unconstitutionally increase the burden of government on the people by even .0000001%.

The Tea party movement has been awesome, but if it ends up as a ‘none of the above’ party, it’s great energy will be a waste. The problem is if the Tea Party “Im fed up” types dont get engaged in *defeating* the Democrats in 2010 (no, not this ‘defeat them all’ nonsense which punishes the good and bad equally), then the Democrats will skate by and take that as proof that Obama-Nation is where the country needs to go.

In other words, the GOP needs to man-up and show leadership, and the populist rabble-rousers need to find a productive channel (ie candidates to support) for their political energy. I hope the threads can be joined ... BECAUSE MAKING THAT HAPPEN IS THE KEY TO SAVING AMERICA.

Yada Yada Yada — you simply don’t get the Tea Parties and what the folks are saying ...

Go to a Tea Party and find out... my suggestion...

The Tea Party folks are going to UNELECT many people - some will be democrats and some will be republicans — it doesn’t matter in many cases as politicians like Lindsey Graham deserve to be pushed aside...

“rabble rousers”? Nice.

What you really want is for those people to use their power to elect Republicans even if they are undeserving. I suggest that is your intent since you made it clear we have to be energized to defeat Democrat’s. No mention made of anyone else.

What you fail to understand is that many of those people did exactly that in 2000, 2002 and 2004 and were BETRAYED by Republicans. If they did as you wish do you know what would happen? All that passion would fall away. A movement without passion will effect little change. There is NO passion to put the same party that screwed and still is doing so back in power. None.

There is a passion to dump all incumbents. That’s the best you are going to get here. Considering there are more Democrat than Republican incumbents that should give challenging Republicans an edge by default.

I don’t think I am going to be completely satisfied just voting these dirt bags out of office. I think we need to prosecute them for their illegal behavior and deeds.

Many of these people are criminals, tax dodgers and “you can fill in the blanks”. At the very least, they should give a full accounting of the wealth they have accumulated since being elected to office.

This garbage of a life time of benefits after “retiring” should be reexamined. None of them, that vote for this health care hell, should be exempt from participating in whatever they victimize the american people with...

They totally underestimate our determination and dedication to seeing this through. Nuff said...

““rabble rousers”? Nice.”

Yup, I’m one of them.

“What you really want is for those people to use their power to elect Republicans even if they are undeserving. “

That’s the opposite of what I said. Republican candidates have to deserve to win. But it’s insane to dump Republicans who have done a good job.

It takes two to tango.

“What you fail to understand ...”
What you fail to understand is you are reading your own fears into what I said.

I merely pointed out the obvious:
Failure to separate good from bad ends up rewarding the bad guys because the bad ones are going to get the grow-the-government half of the vote ANYWAY.

“There is a passion to dump all incumbents.”

Emotion without logic is counter-productive.
Logic without emotion is unmotivating.

We may have to take to the streets armed next time. It is very apparent Congress will no longer listen to us. It is almost impossible to cut off their tax source.

I do not wish to be “represented” by any elitist aristocratic b*****d who uses “populist” as a dirty word to describe “their” (as if entitled to them) constituents.

I didn’t flee the Democratic plantation decades ago, just to be enslaved on the Republican reservation.

Sometimes I wonder how many of us they could lock up, before the government went bankrupt...then I remember that they have millions more just waiting to replace us, via shamesty.
