“I wonder if the senators of this great country ever wake up worrying about how to pay their electric bill or feed their family. I do,” said Todd Bowling.

Cash in your chips, Todd, and support your family. Sell your house, cash in your 401K, pawn your wife’s jewelry, hold a garage sale - whatever it takes. I’m real tired of my stolen tax dollars paying for you to sit on your fat ass and take food from my family.

Well, the 401K is worth diddly, nobody is going to buy the house for enough to cover the mortgage, the pawn shops are full and paying pennies on the dollar and everybody is having a garage sale.

I’ve lived through a prolonged economic downturn. It’s one thing to say man up, do whatever it takes-but sometimes there is nothing left, I’ve seen it. You can’t get that job flipping burgers if the engineer already took it, besides, nobody has money for burgers these days. Property crime isn’t that big a problem- nothing left to steal and nobody left to buy it if there was. What most folks are going to do if they have any gumption left is pack what they can into the car and head for someplace where there are jobs....here in the 907 I am seeing a large and larger number of out of state plates. More than just the usual military, and Michigan is well represented here. “will the last person to leave Michigan please close the door and turn off the light?”

I can see this situation helping with the illegal immigrant problem-there soon won’t be a job Americans won’t do. They’ll deport themselves as jobseekers get less picky and more willing to displace them in the workforce.

So yes, I’m going to have sympathy for these folks. Right up to the point that they start streaming across the landscape like zombies, then you do what you gotta do.
