The American Historical Association has named President Barack H. Obama the Father of Our Country at its annual convention in New York.
The title was formerly held by the first president of the United States, George Washington.
Washington served as commander-in-chief of American forces in the Revolutionary War. After the war, he presided over the Philadelphia convention that drafted the United States Constitution in 1787 and he became the first president of the United States in 1789.
Obama told reporters in the White House Rose Garden that he wasn't sure he had done enough to earn the title, or deserved to be in the company of the "transformative figure" who had held the title before him.
But, he said, "I will accept this title as a call to action, a call for the United States to set aside its arrogance and acknowledge its faults before all of the other, better countries in the world.
Today has to be the most prolific day of Obama (or any subject) posting in Free Republic history.
So I guess this means he’s been declared the “Father” of our new socialist country. *groan*
Mutha-fatha, of or country!
It has just broken that Obama has also assumed the title, “Father Christmas.” Shortly afterwards, 800 elves were laid off.
