Lame attempt by the ComPost to rehabilitate Deeds.

I disagree.

The article is a warning to Democrats:

In Virginia, neither Obama's charm nor culture-war attacks seem to be working. Maybe, because of "what's going on in Washington," nothing will work.

What's going on in Washington is the rad Democrat base's agenda, attacks on liberty, and Charlie Rangel, Democrat shielding of Rangel's corruption, etc.

I really like the "nothing will work" finality.

McConnell is the superior candidate, but Deeds is far from a typical Dem Lib. In fact, I think he won the primary in part because he was the most conservative of all of the three in the race. And I think the fact that he won the primary was a sign of things to come. Deeds made a decision to go negative early and often, and I think it has backfired on him. When you have the Washington Post calling you a liar in its news columns, you are in trouble. This column was not an attack on Deeds, or an attempt to rehabilitate him. Rather, the governor’s race provided a platform from which to attack Obama and Congress.
