Lame attempt by the ComPost to rehabilitate Deeds.
A deeds loss will be a double whammy, considering the DNC chair is the sitting Governor of VA.
Why are they always trying to figure out how the Dem can win? What strategy can these opinion/editorial writers suggest to help the Dems? Why am I even bothering with these questions?
“And no politician can afford to alienate the fornicator vote....”
What?
You need to click on the link to see what comes before that, but I couldn’t leave it out, it’s too juicy.
The article is a warning to Democrats:
In Virginia, neither Obama's charm nor culture-war attacks seem to be working. Maybe, because of "what's going on in Washington," nothing will work.
What's going on in Washington is the rad Democrat base's agenda, attacks on liberty, and Charlie Rangel, Democrat shielding of Rangel's corruption, etc.
I really like the "nothing will work" finality.
He's also got plenty of his own problems...deceit, dishonesty and dirty politics aren't helping either.
I think you read the wrong article.
Dirty Deeds sums it up.
McConnell is the superior candidate, but Deeds is far from a typical Dem Lib. In fact, I think he won the primary in part because he was the most conservative of all of the three in the race. And I think the fact that he won the primary was a sign of things to come. Deeds made a decision to go negative early and often, and I think it has backfired on him. When you have the Washington Post calling you a liar in its news columns, you are in trouble. This column was not an attack on Deeds, or an attempt to rehabilitate him. Rather, the governor’s race provided a platform from which to attack Obama and Congress.
And no politician can afford to alienate the fornicator vote....
“What?”
Exactly, what the he!! is that’s supposed to mean?
Wait a minute, -6bama now has credentials as of early this morning, thanks to the Nobel Committee. How many governor candidates could say that a Peace Prize winner stumped for them?
“This pretty much sums it up. Deeds is running with a 10-ton weight attached to his leg, named Obama.”
Plus.. Deeds just sucks. He presents no plan for reviving economic activity in VA or anything else for that matter. All he’s done is attack McDonnell. McDonnell has run about as smooth and disciplined a campaign as I’ve ever seen any GOPer run. He’s presented his case and very effectively slapped away that thesis issue.
Just a few more weeks... I wish NJ had put up a stronger GOP challenger to Corzine. Christie is sinking fast.
I’m listening to WTOP right now with Deeds on and taking calls.
One of the calls was an Obama voter who was “not happy” with Obama and advised Deeds to remove himself from Obama.
Deeds didn’t know how to respond, but the WTOP interviewer jumped on it. Should have pressed him more, though.
In Virginia, neither Obama's charm nor culture-war attacks seem to be working.
But that playbook is how they win elections, only it's not working this time like it did in 2006 and 2008.
LAst year, when Warner (D) clearly had a solid lead on Gilmore (R) for the Senate race, the WP basically ignored the entire race, it was as if nothing at all was happening. Certainly they didn’t try to tear down Warner to help out GIlmore, or to give advice on how Gilmore could win the election.
IT was like Warner’s victory was a foregone conclusion (which it was).
But when McDOnnell was up by double-digits in the polls, the WP worked very hard to make everybody think this was a real race, which MADE IT into a real race.
“Fool me once, shame on you......”
