Tom DeLay???

Why, I thought he was in prison somewhere for crimes against humanity or some such. I recall he was ceremoniously removed from CONgre$$ as the most corrupt being on the face of the planet. What's he doing appearing in public on Dancing with the Stars and featured in a seeBS article?

In other news, Charles Rangel will be permitted by "the most ethical congress ever" Democrats to remain in the ways and means chair while he fights charges he was a tax cheat. Ted Poe (R-TX) voted "present".

Update: House Dems move to quash Remove Rangel resolution, 243-156 (10/7/2009 Michelle Malkin)

Thomas Dale DeLay (born April 8, 1947) in Laredo, Texas is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives who represented Sugar Land, Texas from 1984 until 2006. He was Republican House Majority Leader from 2003–2005, when his legal problems forced him to step down. In 2005, a Texas court charged DeLay with criminal violations of state campaign finance laws and money laundering. DeLay pled not guilty, claiming political motivation for the charges. As of October 2009, the prosecutor has yet to bring the case before a jury. Two former senior aides to DeLay have been convicted in the Jack Abramoff scandal, and though the infamous lobbyist was closely associated with DeLay, the former congressman himself has not been legally implicated at this time.

“Why, I thought he was in prison somewhere for crimes against humanity or some such. I recall he was ceremoniously removed from CONgre$$ as the most corrupt being on the face of the planet.”

He was subject to a partisan witchhunt indictment by a Democrat DA here in Texas called Ronnie Earle. It accused him of illegally engaging in politics, by asserting some ‘conspiracy’ in terms of how funds were supplied to campaigns and accusing him of breaking the law. Except he did stuff in 2002 and the law was created in 2004. So the major indictment was tossed by appeals judges. Then he kept some other indictements hanging around. That indictment did the trick of removing DeLay from power, and so since then the ‘speedy trial’ that is his right has been ... well, put on the back burner, for the simple reason that the case was and is entirely bogus.

“What’s he doing appearing in public on Dancing with the Stars and featured in a seeBS article? “

He’s the celebrity equivalent of those retreads who’d end up on Hollywood squares, I guess.
