{the one to fill the seat of the Dem Senate President Pro Tempore Adams, won by a Republican State Rep., and the race to fill the Rep.’s seat, also easily held by a Republican ?}

Yes, I was referring to those special elections in DE. National Review highlighted those victories as a factor in influencing Mike Castle to take a shot at the Biden Senate seat.

The turnout was low, apparently, just around 25% or so, from what I read. This was below 2005. Obviously Republicans and Indies were motivated to vote, and they did. You now have a majority GOP Council, too, for the first time in memory. I saw on the liberal NM politics blog that they were giving Berry unsolicited advice to stay away from “right-wing” stuff including undoing “Sanctuary City.” Um, hey, guys, there’s no reason for Berry to have run if he was merely going to continue failed leftist policies that have made ABQ dodgy these days. Undoing the “Sanctuary City” status should be his #1 agenda.

In a related development, Republicans also won a majority on the Albuquerque City Council.

Sweet sassy molassy. Just like in Indianapolis. I'd guess the coucil hasn't been Republican controlled in a while if ever.

Berry will be the first GOP mayor since Harry Kinney who left office in the 80's.

It seems they had a city commission government prior to the mid 70's, I guess that means there was no city council at that time.

The city commission was akin to a council, anyway. The “Chairman” acted as Mayor (Pete Domenici was a de facto Mayor under that system prior to his election as Senator).
