According to informants quoted in The Catholic Herald, the Queen has "grown increasingly sympathetic" to the Catholic Church over the years while being "appalled", along with the Prince of Wales, at developments in the Church of England.
The usually well-informed newspaper adds that the Queen, who is the Supreme Governor of the C of E, is "also said to have an affinity with the Holy Father, who is of her generation".
In July, The Sunday Telegraph disclosed that the Queen had told the heads of a traditionalist group, formed in response to the liberal direction of some parts of the Anglican Communion, that she "understood their concerns" about the future of the 80 million-strong global church.
One leading evangelical said: "We found the letters very supportive."
Her intervention was predicted to have surprised many because the group, called the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans, was feared by some to be a divisive force and one of its senior figures was this accused of being homophobic.
The then Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, called on homosexuals to repent. He said the Church of England must stick to the Biblical teaching that marriage should only be between a man and a woman.
"We want to hold on to the traditional teaching of the Church," he said. "We don't want to be rolled over by culture and trends in the Church," said the bishop, who was one of the most senior religious figures in England.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman declines to comment.

As a “former” Episcopalian, I wish the libs would just leave and go form their own church ... do whatever they like, worship whatever gods they choose ... but leave the Episcopal Church, that I grew up in and loved, behind and intact. So much for a Sunday morning wish.
I don't know what could possibly appall Prince Charles. Didn't the "Defender of he Faith" once call for adding Muslims to the House of Lords?
The Church we grew up in no longer exists.
It is the same in politics, business, culture, etc.....liberals have been conditioned to infiltrate and destroy all that is established.
They know that creating their own church would fail. They know that creating their own political party would fail. They know that creating their own radio programs would fail.
Hence, they have to destroy what exists....they have to get acceptance for their foul ways even if they have to ram it down everyone's throats.
You see, liberals, once they realize what a small minority they are, then convince themselves that they are more enlightened than the rest. This is the "tolerance" they preach and the desire to never keep score or have winners or losers (they would always be the loser)
I'm with you!
I think it refers to the issue of gay marriage. The Muslims are also against gay marriage; so, being their supporter, Prince Charles was also appalled.
Any faith that mentions sin or obedience causes liberals to curse and run away, followed by insults and claims of retardation.
Liberals are, you know, so much smarter than us. They would never place the words of a mythical book above the freedom of perversion.

Good for you, Ma’am
They can't. They are parasites.
An operating definition of a Lefty is "somebody who is very generous with other people's money". In the case of Churches, they want control of assets that were created and built up by the efforts of conservatives. Same deal with universities, cities, and other entities that they seek to control.
Maybe the queen will correct that mistake and come back.
We wound up swimming the Tiber, and we're very happy here. But of course we were ultramontane High Churchers, and a Low Church Piskie might not find a straight-up orthodox traditional Catholic parish very congenial.
His mother is Defender of the Faith, he has said he wants to broaden that to Defender of Faiths when he is king. I quit reading when the article said he was appalled.
He is a disaster.
Anglican ping
It is not so much forming their own religion, it is all about destroying yours because yours provides a moral defense against their more egregious crimes - like the ones Roman Polanski commits.
My heart goes out to you.... I just can’t imagine. I am so sorry for your loss.
God bless you.
It doesn't, but in a sense it does. TEC is dead. I quite unhappily left (P)ECUSA in 1983 for a Continuing Anglican church, but here I have found the same teaching and the same practices with which I was raised. "All" I had to give up was the world-wide Anglican Communion and being in declared communion with heresy.
