And...I somewhat agree with him. The FEDERAL government should not be involved in ANY of the stuff he mentions...Medicare, Medicaid, Schools, and...errr....Telephones(?).

He went in on the tide of anti-Bush sentiment, and there are enough Rats in NOVA (which is 2/5ths of the VA population) to push their candidates over the top in statewide elections, if they vote in the 60 to 70 percentile *against* Bush.
Warner was a very nothing governor, did absolutely nothing controversial or to draw attention to his lame governorship, except to raise taxes and then divert them to another purpose, IIRC in his last year as governor.

The federal incursions into education and health care have been dubious to say the least.
