GOP base still wild about Palin
Politico via news.yahoo.com ^ | Tues Sept 29, 2009 | Michael Falcone, Zachary Abrahamson

Despite a torrent of criticism from the media, Democrats and even some in her own party, Sarah Palin remains the hottest brand name in politics.

Her recent resignation was perplexing. It’s raised doubts about her viability as a potential presidential candidate. Still, she remains extremely popular with the GOP grass roots, and most Republican Party leaders would jump at the chance to have her headline one of their events.

That’s the picture that emerges from interviews with dozens of GOP state and local leaders from across the country.

As part of an effort to gauge Palin’s popularity with the rank and file beyond the Beltway, where the GOP establishment is lukewarm toward the charismatic former governor, POLITICO surveyed nearly 50 prominent Republican Party officials and politicians, representing every region of the country and ranging from statewide-elected officeholders to state legislators to state and county party chairs.

Some refused to talk about her at all. Others, mostly her critics, would do so only off the record. But taken as a whole, the body of interviews revealed that despite Palin’s high negative ratings in recent national polls, Republicans at the grass-roots level and their leaders still hold a very favorable impression of the former Alaska governor.

Westerners have a particular affinity for Palin, with many noting that she embodied the values of freedom and self-reliance.

Scott Sales, the minority leader of the Montana House, referred to her “curb appeal” among the party’s rank and file.

In Colorado, a state where Palin campaigned hard last year on behalf of the Republican ticket but which Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) eventually lost to Barack Obama, Arapahoe County Republican Party Chairman David Kerber said that Palin was a good fit with Western sensibilities.

And clearly too many of the GOP insiders are somehow smitten with Romney. There’s a disconnect in the party that may only be addressed at the polls.

I suppose the author is comparing her to someone like Ronald Reagan. Surely, he's not comparing her to the currently AWOL President.

I very much liked her Hong Kong speech. Didn’t care for her RNC speech as it was all about people (McCain, Obama) and not enough about ideas. (though in her role as vp candidate her hands were probably tied a bit)

I can see her political ascendancy from my house.

What the GOP fails to realize, if not for the energy brought by PALIN.. MANY (like myself) would have just stayed home, or gone FISHING.

In assessing the prospective 2012 GOP presidential candidates, Griffith ranked former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as a cut above Palin — a frequently made assessment.

The "base" Republicans like Sarah. The country club RINOS, fascinated with the elitist power of national socialism want to suck on its hind tit. Well you hiund tit suckers, we are about to modify your elitist diet.

The ROC needs to understand that they will no longer have the REpublican blue bloods hammering down their conservative base in the name of "progressive conservatism" in the style of John McCain ( who seeks to herd Palin). McCain needs to retire and let the people take their party back.

We want to maintain traditional American Culture, our freedoms, and end the eveolution to BIG GOVERNMENT. We want secure borders and functional strategic relationships with historical allies. We want a functional Social Security System that is not cont8inually raided to the tune of the latest liberal Gestalt.

We will take our party back and make it what it was when Reagan was president.

Lead, follow or get out of the way.

Thats the message of Sarah Palin and "base" Republicans.

The days of purposefully splitting and dividing the Republican party between its conservative base and its "elite" are over, because we stand to loose our nation altogether to the Utopian wages of radical socialism.

I feel a little sorry for her. In my mind, she won the primaries, but had them stolen from her by agents of Barack and the DNC who said that Florida and Michigan’s votes didn’t count. Would have made it a lot easier for McCain to win.

Romney is an elitist.

The GOP has a lot of elitists, and we need to realize that this is the real political battle - that of the elitists vs the individualists.

If you believe that the “elite” have the ability, the right, and the duty to make decisions about individuals’ lives, then you’re an elitist, and the political enemy. Elitism inherently leads to collectivism.

Not since Reagan...

I remember reading years ago about a “grassroots take-over” in the Texas GOP. Anybody know how they did that? Would it work on a national scale?

“Go Sarah, go!”

AMEN!!!!!! GO, SARAH, GO!!!!!

No other Republican energizes the party as Sarah Palin does! We need to herd the RINOs out and take back our party!

The elitist country-clubbers seem to ignore the fact that Sarah Palin’s Facebook group has nearly 905,000 supporters; second only to Obama (who’s “One Million Strong For Barack” group has 1.2 million). Also Obama’s fan page is a joke, as you can’t even post on his wall and the vast majority of his supporters on there are foreigners from Europe and the Middle East.

So, to put it in persepctive, Sarah’s page will overtake Obama in a matter of months, if not weeks. It is growing THAT fast!

Sarah’s book will be coming out soon and it will definitely shatter records and top the NYT Bestseller List for months, on end. I believe that with all my heart! HarperCollins had better set their printers to warp speed!

She's filling a huge political void.

More of her type are surfacing. Women are seeing more of their own type at TEA parties and townhalls. N.E.W. is building.

Authentic American women and mothers will tip the scales to save America, IMO, as well as help restore authentic manhood, since behind every good man is a good woman.

"elect Pence"

Well, that's jus it...could either of them get elected. Politics, for better or worse, if more than just ideas. It is also based on personality and popularity. If Barack Obama were white and looked like Dennis Kucinich, he'd never have been elected. Yes, a lot of people like Sarah Palin based on her looks, but she does have the conservative philosophy to back it up. She can get elected, the other two can't. At least not now.

Sarah Palin is more ready to be president than Demint or Pence. She has actually governed a state before. None of those other 2 you named have.
What you don't seem to realize, is that the country is mad like hell, and wants to kick the bums in Washington out(mostly Democrats, but even Republicans too). Anyone from the establishment in Washington is going to have huge disadvantage in 2012. An outsider like Sarah Plain is the perfect candidate for 2012

Sarah is rocking. Her book will be an instant best seller.

"We don’t have to feel that we must beg an allowance from Washington – except to beg the allowance to be self-determined.

"See, in order to be self-sufficient (we) must be allowed to develop, to drill and build and climb to fulfill our promise! We can not start believing that government is the answer. It can’t make you happy or healthy or wealthy or wise. What can? It is the wisdom of the people and our families and our small businesses and industrious individuals. And it is God’s grace helping those who help themselves." - Sarah Palin, July 26, 2009
SARAH'S FAREWELL SPEECH AS GOVERNOR - GREAT READ

Sarah still has the left, the DNC, the MSM and the RINOs all in a frenzy wondering what her next move will be and how it will be perceived...they almost literally froth at the mouth in their efforts to discredit her.

While they do this, and further discredit only themselves in the effort, Sarah is going to publish her book, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process.

Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that capital and make an awesome, stunning, and successful run for the Presidency in 2012.

MANY MORE STICKER DESIGNS HERE

"...like that grizzly guards her cubs, as a mother naturally guards her own. I will keep that vow wherever the road may lead." - Sarah Palin, July 26, 2009
