The White House is a risky place for on-the-job training, as Barack Obama and the rest of us are learning. But the president doesn't deserve all the blame for the installation of a handsome but unprepared matinee idol in the toughest job in the world. The adoring cult, the 53 percent of the giddily oblivious electorate that took a flyer on Election Day, deserves most of it.
Matinee idols only do what matinee idols do, look pretty and inveigle softly with practiced seductiveness. Trouble arrives when the matinee idol and his public confuse role with reality. Reality arrives with the surprise and impact of a lemon-cream pie in the face.

What drives me crazy is all these adjectives bestowed upon Obama.....’handsome’,’charismatic’, brilliant’...from even conservative critics. It almost seems like a reflexive qualifier to demonstrate a lack of any prejudice.
He’s a metrosexual narcissist who can’t talk without a teleprompter. And if he was a 1600 SAT, 4.0 in college, and ripped the LSAT, why are all the records in a lockbox?
Yes, the media does the same for his angry-looking, unattractive, radical wife. They keep trying to point out qualities in her that just don’t seem to exist.
How about “sleazy”, “angry”, “woefully inept”?

When I watched his Sunday television tour, I kept noticing how nice and shiny his fingernails are. He has time for a manicure, but not to talk to the military. Speaks volumes!!!!
I’ve been wondering that too. He’s most definitely not “handsome.” Not ugly, but nothing special. As to “charismatic,” why do his ratings go down after each successive TV appearance? And “brilliant?” You’d think a brilliant man could speak coherent sentences off the cuff, without having to be coached by a teleprompter...
Usually, being known as “charismatic” means you are an empty suit who gives nice speeches.
The Left tried for decades to make Reagan only “charismatic,” but it did not work. Ask the Soviets how they felt after he fired the Air Traffic Controllers. They knew then that Reagan was someone to be feared.
All editorials and commentary must place the responsibility for this debacle on the cult members themselves. Then this cult will dissolve.
Someone should do a spoof of the Obama Administration called 'Last Inaction Hero' - complete with a magic Acorn fraudulent voter registration to transport the kid into Obama World.
The narcissist who cares only about issues that will garner him favor and popularity and to hell with the things that matter most in the hearts of Americans.
