Former President Bill Clinton predicts that Democrats won't suffer the kind of political meltdown that hobbled his administration after the 1994 elections.
Democrats lost control of the House for the first time in 40 years after those elections. Republicans are forecasting that kind of backlash next year against the Democrats.
Clinton suggests that's wishful thinking by the GOP. He says the nation today is more diverse and more interested in positive action. And he says Democrats have not taken on the gun lobby, which he blames for more than a dozen lost seats in 1994.
Clinton says what losses Democrats do suffer in the 2010 elections will be manageable.
Clinton's interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" aired Sunday.

He’s probably right unless Obozo’s obvious weakness provokes another attack in which case by 2010, the last democrat in the country will be hiding out trying to make his way to Canada.

I remember 1994. Things are a lot worst this time. 1994 was a quiet revolt. People are pissed this time. Marching on D.C. , tea Parties. In 1994 , voters wanted to punish democrats. In 2010 , people are looking to roll back the socialist takeover.
There’s method in his madness. He seeks to play it down, to lull the Democrats into complacency. Then, when they suffer massive defeats in 2010, he can use that to show that the country is unhappy with Obama’s radical Change. That way, Hillary can swoop down and clinch the nomination in the primaries.
Considering that Willie Jeff is still nattering on about a ‘Vast Right Wing Conspiracy’ that is now aimed at BHO (”mmm mmmm mmm”), I really, really do believe him (tin-foil hat). Keep that optimism up Democrats, every time you stir this pot it appears to be helping us. I am too experienced to let my hopes run away from reality, but that dim flickering light in that dark, dark tunnel might be coming for thee, Madam Speaker, Senator Reid and company!
I dunno’ about that. The loser-in-chief & Pelosi & Co have a whole ‘nother 13 months to screw up before the elections.
