Looks like his disapproval is climbing a bit more than his approval is falling, which I would interpret to mean that he’s losing independents as much or more than his base. That’s good, and I think is more likely to mean that he’s perceived as too liberal rather than not liberal enough.

When Bush’s poll numbers fell, the media always interpreted it as a sign he was viewed as too conservative, but I think a lot of times it was because he betrayed conservative ideas and it was his erstwhile base deserting him.
