"We just have to see how much money we need for what,"

This San Francisco communist and her comrades had better get their red goddamned hands out of our pockets or else.

I have this strange and uncomfortable feeling that the people running this country haven’t a clue what they are talking about.

That, my friend, is the wrong assumption to make (sorry if the "my friend" sounds like McCain). These folks know exactly what they are doing to try to get to their vaunted socialist state. What you are correct about in regards to being clueless is that they have a tricky gig in hiding their intent as much as possible through the sleazy wording in bills, downplaying CBO assessments, and directly contradicting provisions spelled out in HR 3200. While not clueless they are not used to being shot down with such an overwhelming majority in power. This leads to confusion that leads to mixed messages that leads to mistakes.

For example, they try to claim that provisions in HR 3200 are being misrepresented while at the same time they have been adding/appending amendments, supposedly dropping certain provisions, and overall making alterations that expose their dishonest public posturing and at the same time expose their real intent. Needless to say this was only because there was a bill to cross-reference their dishonest rhetoric with.

And that's the biggest mistake the Dems made (thank God!) - they actually passed a bill out of committee that gave the public a blueprint to criticize. That only happened because they were trying to ram it through before the August recess. The whole game has now changed dramatically because they got too hasty and it has curtailed their ability to rush through their agenda.

Wait a minute here if you do the responsible thing and buy good health insurance instead of expecting someone else to pay it for you, you get taxed for that?

Comrade. Please do not question your overlords when it comes to taxes. Our wise and mighty elite know what is best for you so just accept their decrees.

Either Democrats badly misunderstood their mandate or they are willing to risk a historic electoral defeat to achieve left wing goals.

Outlaw the Homeless!
“Americans would be fined up to $3,800 for failing to buy health insurance under a plan that circulated in Congress on Tuesday,” the Associated Press reports from Washington:

Just as auto coverage is now mandatory in nearly all states, [Sen. Max] Baucus would require that all Americans get health insurance once the system is overhauled. Penalties for failing to do so would start at $750 a year for individuals and $1,500 for families. Households making more than three times the federal poverty level—about $66,000 for a family of four—would face the maximum fines. For families, it would be $3,800, and for individuals, $950.
Why not apply this principle to other areas of social policy as well? For example, we could deal with the problem of homelessness by passing a law requiring everyone to have a home, and levying thousands of dollars in fines against those who fail to comply.

Next they will start taxing your tax refund. And if you don’t get one, they will tax you for that.

What do elected officials pay in co-pay on insurance and what do government staff workers pay in co-pay? I know the unions don’t have a co-payment. So would all these be Cadillac plans? If so will they be taxed or mad exmept?

They’re both talking about a $10-billion provision tucked deep inside thousands of pages of health care overhaul bills that could help the UAW’s retiree health-care plan and other union-backed plans.

It would see the government — at least temporarily — pay 80 cents on the dollar to corporate and union insurance plans for claims between $15,000 and $90,000 for retirees age 55 to 64. …

Greg Mourad of the National Right to Work Committee called it “a shameless case of political payback,” saying Democrats and President Barack Obama are trying “to force the rest of us to pay billions to cover those unions’ health care.”

House Democrats are considering an insurance tax to help pay for their health care overhaul plan, even though such a funding scheme is bitterly opposed by labor unions

The democrat base wants to receive, not contribute. What are these democrat politicians thinking? Without free hand outs, there is no democrat base.
