You are a wise man, sir. In the ‘70s, I flew DC-8s for an American a charter carrier. At one time the company flew B-727s for their Caribbean trips. The planes were crewed with three pilots and three flight attendants. To put it mildly, a good time was had by all (except spouses).
Some years later I had a series of long layovers in Dakar; one of the pilots had brought his wife with him. At some point she confided: “Poor Fred, he always came home sooooo exhausted. Those -727 trips took so much out of him”. We all bit our tongues and said nothing.
