The Adolescent President (The Washington Post’s editors are nervous)
Commentary ^ | SEPTEMBER 22, 2009 | Jennifer Rubin

The Washington Post’s editors are understandably nervous—Obama is wavering, perhaps crumbling before their eyes, on Afghanistan. They note that, not so long ago, he was sounding George W. Bush–like in his determination to prevail. But no more:

So it was a little startling to hear Mr. Obama suggest in several televised interviews on Sunday that he had second thoughts. “We are in the process of working through that strategy,” [he] said on CNN. “The first question is . . . are we pursuing the right strategy?” On NBC he said, “if supporting the Afghan national government and building capacity for their army and securing certain provinces advances that strategy” of defeating al-Qaeda, “then we’ll move forward. But if it doesn’t, then I’m not interested in just being in Afghanistan for the sake of being in Afghanistan.”

The president’s doubts come at a crucial moment. He has just received a report from the commander he appointed, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, saying the United States and its allies are in danger of losing the war if they do not work more effectively to shore up the Afghan government and army and protect the population from insurgents. Gen. McChrystal, along with his seniors in Washington, believe that this counterinsurgency strategy is the only route to success, and that it will require a commitment of substantial additional resources, including thousands more U.S. troops next year.

Yes they are. I first noticed it when Sally Quinn appeared on O’reily. Now Woodward exposing the Obama coverup of the Generals troop request. I think CIA may soon do an info dump on the chump.

once he withdraws the troops and Afghanistan turns back into a festering, terrorist-exporting rathole, the American People will finally notice that the WP and their MSM cohorts are responsible for getting him elected in the first place.

>> Why not turn the job over to ACORN

Draft ACORN and send them to Afghanistan to serve as un-armed Taliban bait.

Colin Powell spoke a great truth about our fighting in the Middle East, though he was speaking specifically about Iraq, namely, that we will win if we stay there long enough.

I think our strategy over there must indeed include the proclamation “we will outlast you. We will be here fighting and terrorizing you until Hell freezes over. You can’t win by waiting for us to leave. You have no hope of prevailing, ever.”

We don’t need a force there that can crush them in a year. The deadlines we impose on ourselves are just what they want to here.

It’s funny how he wants to take time to think about this but we must rush through the legislation that will ruin our country without even reading the bills or even giving time for debate....we can see where his priorities are....marxism not national defense....

Won’t happen that way. Americans by and large are too consumed with Dancing With The Stars, “Cougars”, football, Emmys, Grammys, and Who’s on Letterman tonight?

90% of voting Americans can’t spell Afghanistan or find it on a map.

No, the sheeple won’t notice until the inbred vermin islamonazis STRIKE US again.

And that will be a few years down the road.

If it happens, maybe next time they’ll pick LA/Hollywood to destroy. Wouldn’t that be ironic.

Obama’s gonna bail. He has to bend to the will of the leftwing kooks.

Does he? Or is it just a convenient excuse to line his pockets?

a second reversal of this magnitude will only cement his image as a Jimmy Carter–esque figure–weak, irresolute, and easily manipulated–and invite endless challenges to the U.S. After all, if he’s going to back down whenever someone screams loudly, there will be a lot of very loud screaming.
Which is exactly what we must do.
First we need to criticize 0bama's policy, and then criticize him for changing it.
