Jimmy Carter on Bigots: Takes One to Know One
Pajamas Media ^ | Sept. 18 | Pam Meister

The worst president in modern American history (although he may not be holding that tarnished crown for long) has deigned to weigh in on the growing number of Americans disaffected by the current administration. Jimmy Carter told NBC’s Brian Williams, “I think an overwhelming portion of the intentionally demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man.” He went on to cite his experience as a southerner to give him credibility in diagnosing a large portion of the American people as racist. Kind of like Kathleen Parker did when she said that southerners, er, preferred Sarah Palin over Barack Obama because “southerners weaned on Harper Lee heard the dog whistle.” But just so you know, she lives in the south, so she’s not bashing southerners. She told Chris Matthews that on television, so it must be true.

Carter, you may remember, was scathingly critical of George W. Bush, going so far as to say that the Bush administration was the “worst in history.” Ahem. But as Bush was white (and a Republican), Carter was in the clear.

Funny, isn’t it? Those who see the world through a distorted lens of hate automatically assume that others see the world in a similar fashion. The same folks who brought you Chimpy McBushHitler are now worried about decorum in politics..

Carter is a delusional opportunist. He was a failure as a president, and his failures color his perceptions.

It’s very simple. Carter is projecting.

“southerners weaned on Harper Lee heard the dog whistle.”

Huh? Is she saying southerners became racist from reading Harper Lee?

Jimmie’s problem IS that he is a southern white and he can’t erase his own prejudices.

And now the Rest of the story -

We need to remind Americans just who Jimmy Carter is and just who this President is.

We have a President who’s ancestors bought and sold and owned slaves. Our President’s ancestors were never slaves but were slave owners. Our President’s black ancestors never came to America via the slave trade but only visited America to attend school.

It used to be that African Americans would not have considered him to be part of the black community because of this. They used to say that those people that immigrated to the US after 1960 were not considered part of the African American community because their family members had not been part of the slavery or the laws that prevented them from accessing the front of the bus or the same movie theater or schools.

When quotas were legal, they did not want those first generation Americans to be part of the quota system. Things have sure changed -

If you are White, you are racist - if you are black you are a victim of racism. What about mixed race people like the President?

He is certainly racist since he feels his white relatives such as his grandmother (the typical white woman) were the problem. He could have transcended race if he had embraced both his white heritage and his black heritage and proclaimed them both equal and both having good and bad qualities. Instead he chose to deny his white heritage, never speaking about it and instead make it appear as if he was totally black.
Now before getting to Jimmy Carter let me tell you a story about my Great Great Grandfather.

When one of my ancestor’s came over from Wales during the civil war to fight for the North in PA because his family was unable to feed themselves or to keep themselves warm in Wales and were promised citizenship if they served two years in the US Army. Things in Wales were bad. Wales exported Peat for heating but they were unable to buy it or get it for themselves. The government had taken over the mining and those fortunate enough to work in one of the mines were still starving and cold.

He fought in three major battles and after two years was awarded citizenship. We have hanging in our dining room his army papers and his citizenship papers. Company B of PA he ETS on the 14th of May 1863, and became a citizen in October of 1863.

He was so proud to be an American where he could be free and the government did not control everything. Needless to say he became a miner like his father and his father’s father before him. He was able to bring his brother an wife and children to America and set out making a new life for himself and his family.

Then the mining companies prevented him from realizing his dreams of freedom for quite awhile. You see the mining companies owned the entire town.

Imagine living in a town where Walmart, Alberstons, Walgreens, Post office, Hospital, gas stations, doctors, dentists and Kohls were all owned by the government or one Corporation. (Kind of like Disney has tried to do.)
They own you and your family, it was no different from slavery, just different masters.

On payday they gave you the money that you earned and then you went and spent it at their stores in which they charged double what would have been charged in other towns. The miners were paid just enough to have to use the whole paycheck to feed and clothe their families. They never had the ability to put a little away. That was when the unions came into being. Many miners were murdered or died in mysterious accidents if they were found to be part of the union.

You might ask what this has to do with Jimmy Carter, well Jimmy’s Daddy and then Jimmy when he decided to come back and farm his father’s land because his father became too ill with cancer to farm it any longer, owned a farm that was run much like the mining company ran their mines.

Most of the workers on Jimmy’s peanut farm were black men and on Saturday when they gave them their paycheck they opened the stores that were owned and run by the Carter family and took the workers paychecks back by selling them groceries and drygoods at double the price that the workers would have paid if they had transportation to go to town. The one thing that the Carters did not allow the workers to have were automobiles or transportation to town. Jimmy owned their homes and all the stores and you could say Jimmy Carter owned those black men.

Jimmy Carter has no room to talk after the way he and his father treated the workers that worked on their peanut farm.

People should be reminded that he was part of that White man keeping the black man down - up close and personal. For him to talk about racism is nothing but hypocracy.

America needs to know the Rest of the story.

He also was a failure as a peanut farmer. He had to declare bankruptcy 2 times.

Wonder how times he has hit his fingers with a hammer working for Habitat for Humanity?

Does his church still acknowledge him as a member?

Actually, he no longer acknowledges his church. He withdrew his membership in 2000.

Jimmy Carter says he can 'no longer be associated' with the SBC ___By Greg Warner ___Associated Baptist Press ___ATLANTA (ABP)--Former President Jimmy Carter, Southern Baptists' most famous layman, says he feels "excluded" by the Southern Baptist Convention and "can no longer be associated" with the nation's largest Protestant denomination.
