It’s pretty serious. Se resigned as CEO of WWE. She’s already got her foot partway in the Connecticut political scene by being appointed to the State Board of Education by Governor Rell. She’s got millions of her on $$ to finance her campaign.

Dodd better watch out - she’ll be a strong contended if she wins the primary. Of course, I’m supporting Caligiuri - but that’s another story.

It doesn’t matter if it starts as a publicity stunt or if it’s a legit run, as long as Dodd loses his job.

Fake wrestling is more entertaining than fake senatoring, though I don’t really like either.

It would also mean that the republicans lose what should be an easy pick up. I hope the voters out there come to their senses in the primary. The McMahons make Chris Dodd look like a saint.

This is serious. McMahon is RINO Gov. Jodi Rell's prefered candidate.

For a variety of reasons, Rell hates RINOs Rob Simmons and Sam Caligiuri (who while RINO is probably the least RINO-ish of all the candidates). I'm not sure what she thinks of RINO Tom Foley or Paulite Peter Schiff. Anyway, Rell and McMahon are best buddies.

Not. McMahon has the tacit support of RINO Governor Jodi Rell. That would be a reason for opposing her, except the other candidates are also RINOs.

So this is for real in your opinion - not just a stunt?

It's for real. McMahon has a high profile seat on the State Board of Education and is a major Republican fundraiser. She has steep competition but I think she'll have strong backing from the Governor's people.

She can self-finance, which is absolutely necessary to beat better known candidates like Simmons and Caligiuri. Tom Foley will have a ton of money too, from the country club set, and Peter Schiff probably has a snowball's chance in hell but can cause real havoc if he raises $20 million or whatever.

There are enough plausible candidates that this thing could get real interesting. I just wish they weren't all RINOs (McMahon is a notorious RINO).

To: Alter Kaker

The only good thing that might come of this is McMahon draining support from other RINOs thus helping Schiff, but she may try to run as ‘the outsider’ which could in turn drain potential support from Schiff.

Either way, I suspect her run could be portrayed as ‘look at what the buffoonish wrestling Republican is doing.’ If she turns this into some kind of circus it could help Dodd, regardless of who gets the nomination.

But then, I’ve never even been to CT, so what do I know.

So was it also a stunt when the Governor appointed McMahon this spring to a high profile State Board of Education position? Or when McMahon wrote tens of thousands of dollar worth of checks to GOP candidates across the state?

McMahon is a real, live, serious RINO. I'm not sure you get any more RINO -- she's a major underwriter of "Republican Majority for Choice," the pro-abort group, and even contributed to Rahm Emanuel' campaign.

Of course, Simmons, Foley and Caligiuri aren't really any better, although Caligiuri has at least been taking a fairly conservative line in his campaign rhetoric.

It's maybe a little unfair to criticize her for that, because she's the CEO of a major corporation, and corporations have to suck up to whoever is in power. She's definitely a Republican, but living in Greenwich has definitely turned her into a wimpy, left-leaning country club Republican. Must be something in the water. What's ironic is that the real old money set would never deign to associate themselves with the likes of Linda or Vince McMahon.

RINO, conservative, or in-between, Linda McMahon doesn't have a chance no matter what her views are. All her opponents need to do is show clips of the WWE. I don't think many independents, especially independent women are going to vote for her once all the clips of "puppies" from the show are going to air.

Democrats won't vote for her because of all the comments about Gore and Lieberman from back in 2000 when I watched the show. King and JR took a ton of shots at them.

Just throwing it out there. Seemed odd that someone who had contributed so often to Dems in general and Emanuel and his PAC specifically would suddenly want to enter politics as a Republican. I also understand that there is not a whole lot of difference between the 2 in CT.

I participated in a fairly involved Q&A tele-poll about two weeks ago, assessing candidates according to views and positions. When the person mentioned the name Tom Foley I first thought that the former Dem Maj Leader from Washington (who used to stuff airplane food in his pockets) had re-located.

I concluded that the poll was sponsored by Foley, because as all the abortion positions were stated for all the other candidates to get a sense of what my support for their potential candidacy would be, I noticed that Foley's position wasn't also sampled. I asked the interviewer what was Foley's position. Strangely, (or perhaps NOT so strangely) she had no answer....
