Obama: conservative anger is 'coarsening' By Mike Soraghan - 09/13/09 10:42 AM ET

President Obama says the angry scenes on televised town halls represents a "coarsening of our political dialogue."

In an interview to be aired tonight on 60 minutes, Obama indicated that he didn't think the opposition expressed to his agenda represented the national mood, just the best television.

"In the era of 24-hour cable news cycles, the loudest shrillest voices get the attention," Obama said, in the interview which was previewed on Face the Nation. "What I'm trying to figure out is how can we make sure that civility is interesting.

Our conservative anger? Who wants to follow someone who conceals their past and not prove eligibility to lead our nation? You ain’t seen nothing yet!

In the era of 24-hour cable news cycles,

This is a bit of an aside, but I'm so sick of hearing this cliched myth. There is no 24 hour cable news cycle. Show me a cable news show that has live breaking news 24 hours a day. Fox News, the top rated cable news show, shows reruns of it's prime time shows overnight (except for the very funny Red Eye, which is not a breaking news show.) CNN does the same. MSNBC isn't even a news channel for the majority of the day. By evening, they show prison shows and whatnot. CNN shows Larry King and then reruns. There is no 24 hour news cycle. It's a damn lie. The only thing close to a 24 hour news cycle is CNBC World, if you want to consider overseas markets part of the news cycle.

I don’t remember George W. Bush crying about his critics this way.

What a baby.

Maybe it’s because he never served in the armed services, never had a real job, never had to slug it out day-to-day like the rest of us.

Somebody call a Whah-mbulance.

You’re assuming that the elections will be honest... I’m not so sure.

“A dictator must fool all the people all the time; and there’s only one way to do that: He must also fool himself.” ~~Somerset Maugham.

He has failed the first part, and is clinging like a sociopath to the second part. I think “Emperor Jones” is about to take off through the swamps.
