We all know that this is a cathartic moment; with burden lifted, life will now go forward with ever-lightening step.
I hope it lasts longer than Ex-Lax.

" As soon as I sign this bill, it will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your coverage when you get sick or water it down when you need it most " Two lies here...
1,..the bill is due to kick in in 2013
2...including pre-existing conditions on the insurance companies now will ensure they are all bankrupt by 2013.
If insurance companies can't deny you because of pre-existing condition why the hell would you ever buy insurance in the first place? Just wait till you have a problem and knock on the door. Why doesn't this genius pass a law allowing me to place bets on the Kentucky Derby after the race while he's at it?

Thanks for pointing that out( that the bill doesn’t go into effect right away) . odumbo thinks we are all stupid.
and his clever use of the phrase, “ won’t require”
No it won’t require you to change but your employer will once they see that paying a fine is cheaper

"Under this plan, it will be against the law for insurance companies to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing condition. As soon as I sign this bill, it will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your coverage when you get sick or water it down when you need it most. They will no longer be able to place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you can receive in a given year or a lifetime. We will place a limit on how much you can be charged for out-of-pocket expenses, because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they get sick. And insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies because theres no reason we shouldnt be catching diseases like breast cancer and colon cancer before they get worse. That makes sense, it saves money" Each item listed is a budget buster, proving the last point a lie.

This “plan” makes no sense. First he will force premiums to increase as procedures are mandated. Fine when things are going good, but bad in economic downturns. Seems to me that the intent is to bankrupt private insurance.
Then he says that those who do not have insurance can get it in a “marketplace”. How are they going to pay for it if they do not have a jobs, and their priorities shift to housing and food?
Additionally, if this is his “plan”, there is so much left to do, that he is simply saying that we must keep working, but time is short. Why not do a press conference instead of a speech to Congress?

” The time for games has passed “
Games ?
The only games being played are Barry’s daily basketball game and his biweekly golf games.
There is a juvenile , trash talking quality to this mish mash.
The only thing missing is Barry taunting “ The Republicans’ mamas are so ugly...”

Hes promised details.... Seems like a pretty hollow speech to me if these are the highlights....Even democrats were saying he'd better put some meat on this speech. People are getting sick of seeing him yap yap yapping all over their prime time shows, saying nothing new. Even supporters' patience is running thin. Plus, he raised expectations by promising details of the plan. Hopefully, the rest of the speech is as bereft of detail as this boring excerpt.
And for people who are skeptical about this plan, that cranky, dictatorial tone isn't going to do much to calm their fears. If the WH is going to track you down and come after you if you so much as "misrepresent" anything in the plan, what the hell are these jackboots planning for us once the plan is made into law, with 400,000 regulations and with premiums extracted by the IRS?
