Yo Rab, McCain did something right for once.

Maybe. :-)

I haven’t read this yet, so it’s possible he blamed it all on conservatives in congress...............

This isn’t news. They have been raiding the Highway Trust Fund for years. Just recently they wanted to increase the federal fuel tax for “roads and bridge” and there was a lot of outcry because they were currently only using a small portion of the HTF for roads and bridges.

It’s news to me.

Not surprising, not in the slightest, but news none-the-less.

Not surprising at all. Here in New Jersey we just had all road tolls increased 100% to pay for road and bridge repairs. Seems the Port Authority had used all the money for pet projects like soccer stadiums and community events and had nothing left for actual road repairs.

Classic government shell game. Pass Highway funding legislation as an legitimate cause. Then, once the moneys are funded, raid the fund for pet projects under the cover of darkness.

They’ve raped and plundered it for years to waste our highway money for “mass” transit.

Yep, talk about sticker shock....I’ve been using EZ-Pass for about 7 Years, and I’ve really never looked at the costs of the tolls, except for the NY/NJ bridge/tunnel tolls ($8.00 right now, cash or ez-pass). But, when I went to NY this weekend to see my M.I.L., I paid cash for all the tolls, since my S.I.L. said she would pay them for me. Anyway, the EZ-pass amount from 8A (Jamesburg NJ) to the Holland Tunnel is just under $3.00. For cash, it’s almost $5.00!!!!! Same thing with going back from the Lincoln tunnel to the same exit! The only thing I don’t get the break on is the tunnel tolls.

I hate NJ..............

Every state legislator should be made aware of this. After all, roads in THEIR districts are not going to be funded, just so that some faux-prince/princess an build a fence around an imaginary lake.

Yeah, that’s going to go over REAL good come next November.
