Van Jones: Truther nut
The American Thinker ^ | September 04, 2009 | Rick Moran

Posted on 09/05/2009 3:35:13 AM PDT by Scanian

It seems incredible that Barack Obama would appoint someone to manage $30 billion in government money who actually believes the government of George Bush stood by and allowed 9/11 to happen as a "pretext for war."

Incredible - but true. Green Czar Van Jones signed a petition in 2005 demanding another investigation into 9/11 by the New York Attorney General, concentrating on the lunatic notion that President Bush, at the very least, knew about the attacks of September 11 in advance and did nothing to stop them so he could take the country to war.

Update from Thomas Lifson:

Jones has denied (hat tip: Grant) that he believes or ever believed the statement he signed:

"In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration - some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize. As for the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.

"My work at the Council on Environmental Quality is entirely focused on one goal: building clean energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and use renewable resources."

The "former" communist, black racist, hip-hop nincompoop, who is now so "mainstream" that even some Republicans thinks he's the cat's meow, says he didn't know what he was signing, didn't read it carefully, and wouldn't sign it today.

Well of course he wouldn't sign it today - Obama wouldn't have given him a job if he'd known about it, right?

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

What did the White House know about Van Jones' Trutherism and when did they know it? Charles Krauthammer asks this question and calls the revelation about the Green Jobs Czar "devastating," much more so than an epithet directed at Republicans that most of us have used at a wide range of people. Does Barack Obama believe that it's acceptable to have paranoid conspiracists in high-level appointments, or was the White House simply too incompetent to properly research Jones in the vetting process? Because it comes down to those two options, and regardless of what we think of Jones, the blame for him being in the White House falls squarely on Obama (via RedState)

Meanwhile, Jim Hoft, who broke the story originally, finds evidence that this was not just a mistake in not reading the petition, as Jones tried to spin it yesterday. Jones also took part in a rally in 2002 that included some of the Truther conspiracy theories. He's got screen caps of the rally information and Jones' endorsement.

Ed Lasky:

Why are we so surprised that a conspiracy theorist would get control of huge wads of taxpayer money? After all, Pastor Jeremiah Wright espoused similar conspiracy theories (including whites coming up with AIDS to kill black people) for years while Obama said Wright kept his "moral compass calibrated", was his "confidant" and "sounding board" and a man he chose to serve as the minister to his own young daughters?

Jones has been presenting himself as some kind of reformed radical, mainstreamed by the left because of his emphasis on "Green Collar Jobs." But as many have pointed out, Jones has a childish understanding of the free market. By emphasizing green at the expense of coal, oil, and gas, the number of jobs lost in those sectors will dwarf any gains made in solar, wind, or other industries. Instead of a "green revolution," will will have depression era unemployment.

But that's what happens when you put communists - er, excuse me, former communists - in charge of a huge sector of the economy.

Let's get a pool going to see how long Obama hangs on to Jones. I say he's gone by Monday at the latest. What's your guess?

His comments are like a little liar, found with his hand in the cookie jar trying to explain his way out of the “crime”. He’s poison and needs to go back to San Francisco, where the other criminal in WDC hails from, that’s Lady Pelowski, of course.

Charles Krauthammer and the rest of the panel at Fox News said Jones is out by Monday. He absolutely has to go. (and so do the rest of the czars....and obama)

Maybe so but I don’t think so. At least not right away. Zippy firing Jones would be like dumping his twin brother. The Obamanoids knew what Jones was all about and they liked it. They thought they’d get away with cramming Jones and other “advisors” and “czars” of similar ilk down our throats right along with Obamacare. And they might still succeed in getting away with it.

Correction: “Birther”: a DU smear term used to attack believers in the natural born citizenship requirement of the US Constitution.

Getting the ‘ONE’ to admit his mistake and fire this racist ba$tard is beyond arrogant, its just standard operating procedure. Its just another step towards the end of this community organizer's term Bammy is making Carter look like the smartest president in history

I was defining who the Birther actually is. not the DU smear.

No problem. That word just gets under my skin because I know where it came from.

I’ll accept being called a birther if the other side will accept being called after-birthers or still-birthers.

I remember the extremely detailed application form the White House said they were using to vet those applying for positions in the Administration. Looks like Van Jones either omitted some stuff or the WH let it pass. Either way he has to go.

It is not only time for Mr Jones to be driven out of politics but it is also time for the time for the guy who appointed him to go too!!!!!!

I don’t think Van Jones is going anywhere (unless we get rid of the whole gang, including Obama). The MSM simply isn’t reporting this.

Nobody would care, anyway, because by now Obama has made so many extreme appoinements that he has raised the bar for treasonous or even nutty so high that he could probably appoint Osama bin Laden himself as a czar and nobody would bat an eyelash. People expect it of him.

The press is all-forgiving and so, apparently, are Americans, who skipped right over Obama’s 20 years in a raving leftist anti-white “church” run by a former Black Muslim, his close association with a completely unrepentant 1960s Marxist terrorist, etc. There was a little blip over these things and then everything quietly went away.

He didn’t “throw them under the bus.” He simply told them to lay low. I’m sure he is still regularly in touch with both Wright and Ayers, and probably the White House visitor logs that he will not release have regular visits from them. But now nobody cares anymore, so he can simply be more open with people like Van Jones.

This will be more of the same.

I bet if Congress could somehow confiscate Obama’s Blackberry there would be enough on there to try him for treason in setting up a parallel government.

Van Jones will be hung around Zero’s neck for years to come. He will be a huge issue in ‘10 and ‘12. With McCain gon, Repubs will be none too shy to bring out his radical friends during the campaigns.

Bank on it.

Van Jones is a perfect example of what is disturbingly wrong with this country today. It only seems appropriate that he should be at one of the highest levels of government with the full support and confidence of our community organizer and chief.

I agree. A leopard doesn’t change its spots. Hussein has always been a radical Marxist and will always stay that way. When pinned down, he pretends to be a run-of-the-mill Democrat but he is a revolutionist to the core. That’s how gramps and momma raised him and that’s how Ayers, Wright, and the rest taught him.

Jones, Lloyd, Holdren, Sunstein and the rest of the czars are where they are for a reason: to affect as much leftist change in America as possible as fast as possible. Hussein already knows he can’t win an honest election in 2012. He’ll either try to rig the electoral process or skip out after one term saying something to the effect that “my job is done” and he’ll let someone else take over the party for the next round of fraud and abuse. It could be Hillary. In fact, they may have cooked up such a deal before the convention. Who knows? But Hussein is definitely committed to his ideology more than anything. He loves the trappings of the presidency but transforming America into a Marxist hellhole remains his number one goal.

I’m seeing a pattern here; Obama gravitates toward the radical, left-wing nutjobs.
