How Well Did Meg Whitman Know Van Jones?
The Washington Independent ^ | 0/4/09 | David Weigel

A May 2009 video of California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman praising Van Jones, which was posted by TWI yesterday, has inspired a parody video from the campaign of California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner. It touches all the bases, portraying Whitman as an out-of-touch elitist who hobnobs not just with a man who called Republicans “assholes,” but with Jimmy Carter.

Michael Goldfarb has Whitman responding by saying she “did not do a background check of his past over dinner” and “it’s clear that he holds views that I entirely reject.” But that doesn’t even cover her comments in the original video. Whitman didn’t say she had one dinner with him; she said “got to know him very well,” pronounced herself a “huge fan,” then wondered whether Jones would “put someone in charge of what he’s doing here in Oakland.” Four months ago, Whitman wanted reporters to know that she was friendly with an environmental activist who would be working for Obama. Now, Jones is a guy she met at dinner.

The Whitman walkback rings of Obama’s infamous (on the right) comment that Bill Ayers was “a guy who lives in the neighborhood.”

They are missing the point.

The point is that she was with him on a global-warming cruise.

She’s another global warming Republican. We’ve got enough; we don’t need anymore. And more specifically, we’ve already got one in Sacramento. If she wanted to be the GOP’s alternative to Swartzenegger, she just blew it. She is no alternative at all.

Actually whitman is a Romney pupil. He has even moved to California to help her.

"Whitman has made monetary donations to various candidates and PACs. While these have gone to both Republicans and Democrats, the donations seem to be weighted to Republicans such as Orrin Hatch, Mitt Romney, John McCain, and George Allen."

"Whitman was a supporter of former Bain & Company CEO and Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's presidential campaign in 2008 and was on his "National Finance Team". She was also listed as Finance co-chair of Romney's exploratory committee. However, after Romney stepped out of the race, and endorsed McCain, Whitman joined John McCain's presidential campaign as a national co-chair.

I'm sorry but it's funnier that *bleep* when these imbeciles decide to prove their political/social/moral bona fides by embracing someone they have been told is very cool to know.

They are missing the point! Whitman believes in the global warming fairy-tale that is crushing CA to death! She is a statist, Rockefeller Republican. Go Gavin! Kick RINO ass!

She doesn’t vote much though, and she only became a republican in 2007, her parallels with her political mentor are amazing.

“Records from San Mateo County show that the billionaire businesswoman became a Republican last September and did not vote in more than half the federal, state and local elections since she registered to vote in the county in September 2002.
