Reminds me of a story our priest told in a homily:
Napolian told a Cardinal of France. I hate the Catholic Church and I’m going to destroy it.”
The Cardinal replied, “Don’t be silly, my arrogant friend. We, Cardinals and Arch-Bishops, have been trying to destroy the church for 2000 years. We haven’t succeeded, and you won’t either.”
“We, Cardinals and Arch-Bishops, have been trying to destroy the church for 2000 years. We havent succeeded, and you wont either.
Good one! All the human frailty in the world can’t bring down the Catholic Church. Christ prayed to the Father that it would last to the end of time.
Here’s another great quote, even if attributed to the Modernist, Alfred Loissy:
“Every Sunday, 30,000 sermons are preached in France ... and STILL the people believe!”
