You are free to post on all threads related to Obama that you want.

No one forced your finger to click on this thread. If you don’t like the water, why do you keep jumping into the pool?

I may not agree with GGG. But I sure appreciate having a website (FREE REPUBLIC) where I CAN debate the subject of Religion vs. Science OPENLY.

And GGG gives multiple opportunities (each day) to do so.

I find it fascinating, to see what others think about the topic and discuss it with them.

I learned a long time ago not to take emotional responses personally.

Religion does not have to be against science.

No. It surely doesn't.

I don't believe that 'scientists' are atheists, nor that devoted Christians are 'anti-science'.

There is no Temple of Darwin.

There are a lot of scientists looking for answers, and a lot of Christians doing the same.

Neither of them have the answers. But they think they do.

I do. I also post on other topics too. And scarily enough, I have conservative viewpoints. I guess I click on them recently trying to point out spam. But GGG and a few people must like them, so thats fine. But plenty of people who have also been here lots longer than I have try to point out bad arguments and stuff that contradicts itself, yet it just goes in one ear and out the other. Its a fasination, I guess. I dont take things personally at all. This is the internet. Who really cares? But when its framed in a religion vs. science scenario, its going to create unnecessary division.

I saw a couple threads that said Catholics are not really Christians and attacked the Catholic faith. Now Im not even Catholic, but there about a billion people on earth that would have a real hard time with that. So Im just saying these threads alienate lots of conservative people. Me, not so much.

But actually science does have some of the answers. They are just mocked and derided by a few that really have no knowledge of science and how it operates. Faith also provides answers, but they can never be proven or disproven, as it is what it is. Faith. There is nothing wrong with either one, yet these posts just serve to divide conservatives who dont think T Rex didnt eat all of the other animals on the Ark. Or the earth was once a giant raindrop. Some of the stuff on these threads is just absurdity with the unproven claims.

It is a battle between Judeo-Christian civilization and totalitarian evo-religious materialism.

As a Christian, can I not have my own understanding of what the words in Genesis 'mean'?

I have never run into any so-called 'scientists' that have ever asked me to question my faith, while they were discussing their 'discoveries'.

The importance of the words in the Bible are that they present 'concepts' which God intended to be understood by the faithful who developed an 'understanding' between God and themselves.

We can fight over whether a 'day' was 24 hours, just like we can fight over whether God removed an actual 'rib' from Adam to make Eve, but it doesn't change the fact that we live in an amazing Universe, and how it 'got here', no one really knows, except by faith.

Im guessing that creation and ID are going against the Koran then? Or Hinduism?

No. They just have their own version of creation/ID.

What are you talking about when you say religion vs. science?

The Genesis account vs. modern paleontology.

The statement in the thread name was non-targeted, but I can see how it could be construed as offending those who disagreed with it.

Your response was more specifically targeted because it was a reply to the poster; I don’t fault it, or the response, simply because it seemed a mutual exchange of unpleasantries until complaints were made.

So Im just saying these threads alienate lots of conservative people.

Maybe. Maybe they don't click on it, and never have to read it, ergo it really isn't a problem?

I try not to 'judge' what is good for 'other' people. If I get on a thread, I never blame the thread, or it's author for the way the discussion goes.

I find it ironic that posters will declaim a certain thread, then spend hours bumping it to the top with their own posts.

On a separate note, I do make remarks about personal attacks, though, no matter where I find it.

And just what is it that you do every time you post your BS here?

Lower the IQ of FR a little.

It’s not spam, because each time it is a different article, with a title and a link.

If you don’t want to discuss this stuff, just ignore it. If you disagree with what he posts, try a rational argument.

If you think someone should be stopped from posting something, hit abuse and ask the moderators — they are the ones tasked with making those decisions, not those of us who are fellow guests at the site.

But as a new person here, I would suggest you tread lightly — if you think something seems really bizarre, and you can’t figure out why it is allowed, you should realise you aren’t the first person to think that, and therefore there is probably support for what you are reading from the owners of the site.

I can assure you that if the moderators wanted to save their time, or the bandwidth, they have the ability to do so without your wasting bandwidth to complain about it.

Or, these threads could be trying to save Science from the religionists of the left, who believe in the god-Man.

We have other threads on this board that attack scientists for their false preaching of the Global Warming religion.

Do you show up in THOSE threads to denounce us as turning off “reasonable” people, or in THOSE threads do you agree that scientists can be wrong?

Ive tried rational arguments which are ignored. I wont be wasting my time with circular debates. And by the way, they are all articles from a handful of the same sites, which leads to the conclusion of spamming. It obviously is ok to do that here, and I really have no care about it. I know I wouldnt spam though.

Yes, it does. Transistors didn't just fall out of the sky.

yet these posts just serve to divide conservatives

Maybe the truth is that these posts only REVEAL the divide between conservatives.

Some of the stuff on these threads is just absurdity with the unproven claims.

I know. And it takes real talent to deal with those kind of claims/beliefs/etc without losing one's temper and screaming (or making personal attacks).

I have, yes. The sun is the major driver of any global warming, not man made pollutants. Those scientists are wrong and I have said it. Thats the nice thing about science though, eventually bad theories and ideas get thrown out or refined. There is no debate with someone who says that humans rode dinosaurs and kept them as pets.

I dont remember making any personal attacks other than to say this poster spams the same website articles. Although I have been called several names on here. Thanks for pointing that out and having my back.

Well, almost everything I post is from one site; Almost every day there are a dozen posts from each of a dozen single sites; And if you include the blogger/personal stuff, every day people post tiny quotes from every one of their blogs into this site to get hits.

It’s what makes FR work. Contributers have special interests, and each one can post stuff from the web sites they frequent, that most of us don’t, and then we can discuss it all here.

For the record, I can’t remember a single thread posted on creationism in the past year that wasn’t immediately posted to by people calling creationists names; and I can’t remember the last time one of these threads had an opponent that posted actual scientific information.

That’s fine, if they want to say that they are tired of arguing with a brick wall. I know that keeps me from posting to a lot of evolution threads, there’s no point because some people just won’t listen to reason.

But I don’t go to those threads and start harassing the posters who do want to have a discussion.

And since you haven’t even been a member for a month yet, you haven’t had the time to “give up” on making rational arguments, or to establish some sort of history of trying to reason with people before you give up and start sniping about people donating money.

But hang in there. Wait until you find some candidate you stoop to support becomes the favored target of the site, then you will really know the “fun” of defending your position against irrationality. :-)

I certainly wouldn’t debate with someone who said that humans kept dinosaurs as pets.

I wasn’t there, so how would I know. I know that an absense of evidence isn’t evidence of absense — I use that philosophy in most of my analytical thought here at FR, whether it be people claiming to know what happened thousands or millions of years ago, or people who are certain they know what happened and who is to blame every time some sketchy news story is posted.

I know what I see with my own eyes, or can logically infer by trusted sources of information.
