This story is one of these things that grabs my attention and fascinates me.

So I have, I say not so proudly but it is a fact, read the entire PDF memo as translated to English, of the Soviet envoy to Andropov re the approach by Sorenson re Ted Kennedy. Hope I’ve got these names right. I read it all thoroughly with an attempt to understand it all in the context of the era and knowing Ted Kennedy as the lying snake he was, as he now is burning in hell.

I also will play Devil’s Advocate please allow.

So this Sorenson fellow approaches the KGB guy and says ...hey, Ted Kennedy is planning for running in 1988 I believe but he wants to be a good guy in 1984 and help the Dems win the White House to better position himself in that 1988 run. So Ted has a plan that will give the Soviet Premier excellent access to American journalists and Ted and his gang will prep the premier PLUS important members of the soviet army to better address the American people about nuclear disarnament.

Now as I recall my own personal self, Reagan was elected president in 1980 or thereabouts. Thus the 1984 election would have Reagan running again so Ted didn’t want to be the Dem nominee that year as he’d be up against Reagan. Ted’s target year was 1988. Ted’s approach to the soviets occurred sometime before 1984. Sorenson informed the soviets that Ted’s first intent was to help the Dem’s 1984 nominee and that he himself wanted to run in 1988.

Ted would get Barbara Walters and Walter Conkrite I believe to do the interviewing and Ted’s people would teach the soviets the correct code words and such to convince the American people. Sorenson told the KGB guy that Reagan was a hardhead and was only plowing on with the nuclear buildup because the soviets were doing a lousy job of convincing the American people why nuclear disarnament was the way to go. Which would, as I understand it, allow the soviet union to continue to exist as the implosion the American buildup was causing would be avoided if Reagan could be convinced to stop putting nukes all over the world.

In other words, if Ted Kennedy had his way he’d have helped the soviets remain alive, he’d have somehow trained the soviets how to lie to the American people, and today we’d still have the spector of the USSR and for this I despise Ted Kennedy and will forver and ever and I know he’s burning in hell yes he is.

But a couple of questions. First, it was the russian guy in 1992 that released these memos and somehow some news org in England found this but of course no American bought and paid for media would have bothered. But WHY? Why would the Russian guy release this stuff to the world and further, eventually it WAS re-hidden so this is odd.

The Kennedy people WERE queried about this and they never denied it. This makes me think there’s something very provable about what those London people have. The Kennedy people say it’s all a big misunderstanding, that this is not how it all came down at all but know now they would be denying this all up and down and over and under if they could. So SOMETHING happened.

Finally, cause you’re bored with me, this story isn’t going anywhere. Trust that I know the importance of the story but I grew up with the looming soviet union over my shoulder, I remember air raid sirens, I remember the fear of a worldwide communist domination.

Most folks today don’t remember it save us older folks although I am only 59. Still, the soviet union is old news and Ted Kennedy’s complete and horrific betrayal won’t mean much to today’s American.

Here’s my big question, WHY DIDN’T THE SOVIETS TAKE KENNEDY UP ON HIS OFFER?

I am convinced this is a true story, I understand the logic of it, I can see where it might conceivably have worked.

But the soviets never did. Baba Wawa NEVER interviewed the soviet premier, members of the Russian army never appeared on Meet the Press to explain how happy they’d be to reduce their nuclear arsenol if only Reagan could agree.

Okay, I’m done. This is an intriguing story but besides me and a few others, nobody will pay it much mind.
