I don’t remember identifying it as biblical. The phrase has been part of the American lexicon since the days of Benjamin Franklin, who some historians say was responsible for introducing it to the American public.
If you go back and read the post I was responding to, you’ll understand my post, which was 10% ‘tongue-in-cheek’ and 90% firm. It also describes my personal mindset as to how we should be responding to our current situation in this country. Perhaps the jews relied on the Bible during WWII, as they allowed themselves to be rounded up. America exercised a “Lord helps those who help themselves” mindset. I’ll go with the latter.
